1st Edition Director Selected

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

1st June 2008

Back in February 2008, we began a search to find someone to take charge of our efforts to continue 1st Edition. We're proud to announce that we've found someone to fill that position - Jeremy Commandeur, who begins his duties today and will continue his long history with supporting 1st Edition.

We asked Jeremy to tell us a little about himself, and he had this to say. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jeremy Commandeur (dAgent #19 from back in the day). I started playing Trek 1E in 1994 and running 1E tournaments in '95. Back then, Armus was considered a good dilemma and everybody played six copies of Shaka, When The Walls Fell. I continue to run 1E tournaments every month with more than 30 active 1E players, and a dozen regulars in my area.

I've been a playtester/developer for several different CCG/TCGs and worked on both 1E and 2E products for Decipher. Along the way I wrote a few official 1E rules documents as well. My goal is to have language as artful as Evan's but I don't think that is going to happen. I sound more like Yogi Berra.

1E is one of the broadest, most in depth games in existence and its only going to get better. I've been a passionate 1E promoter since the beginning and now I look forward to developing the 1E environment into a new golden age."

Jeremy has been appointed to the position of 1E Director, but is going to be subject to the approval of the community and of the committee. We are confident that by December 2008 (after six-months) he will have earned the confidence of the community and will easily be confirmed.

Darren LaCoste, the Director of Public Relations, had the following to say about our new apointee: "Jeremy is, in my opinion, the most qualified candidate for this position. He has an existing 'in' to the behind-the-scenes of 1E Trek, he has lots of experience designing cards, playtesting cards, organizing players, etc. He appears to be quite a workhorse, and could devote a large amount of time to the role. In addition, he is part of a large, active First Edition community.

Matthyas Kiraly, our Australian Organized Play Coordinator, says that Jeremy's "...experience, leadership and enthusiasm demonstrated to date have impressed many, including myself. He has shown himself to be a leader in the community, with the ability to listen and respond to people and their suggestions and opinions."

Our hope is that Jeremy and the rest of the 1E community can unite and ensure a bright future for 1st Edition Trek. He has big plans and many of the community has big ideas, so it seems like the future has a lot of potential. For more information about Jeremy and his vision for 1E Trek, you can join the discussions on our 1E Gameplay forum.
