WCT Online League Schedule

by Matthew Zinno, Staff Writer

30th September 2014

I am pleased to announce that I have been chosen as the director of the WCT Online League this year. I am happy to be continuing in the tradition of the former Director of Organized Play, James Hoskin, but even happier to continue bringing League events to my online play community!

As in previous years, The WCT League season is split into three sections. The "First Half" comprises four tournaments, as does the "Second Half." The top eight players from each half will then qualify for the Championship. The qualified player with the most league points for the entire season, including the third section ("Playoffs"), will be the winner of the WCT online league 2014-15. The complete schedule is as follows:

First Half
(Anyone may play. The top eight players qualify for the champion eligibility in the playoffs.)
Game Format Start Date End Date Notes

Game Format Start Date End Date Notes
First Edition OTF Sunday, February 1 Monday, March 2 4 rounds. Each round lasts one week.

Second Edition ID Draft Sunday, February 1 Monday, March 2 4 rounds. Each round lasts one week.
Sealed cards distributed on Sunday, January 11.

First Edition Block Sunday, March 1 Monday, March 30 4 rounds. Each round lasts one week.
*runs concurrently with the Second Edition tournament.
Second Edition Standard Sunday, March 1 Monday, March 30 4 rounds. Each round lasts one week.
*runs concurrently with the First Edition tournament.

Number of rounds may be adjusted based on turnout.  Tournaments that start on Sunday have an extra day in round 1, to avoid starting on the first Monday of a month (because that's when errata and rules updates get issued).

Registration links for these tournaments will be available in the Tournament System, and on the Online Tournaments message board.  They can also be found in the WCT Online league page, which will also display the league standings once results are entered.  They'll also be at the League Hub, which lists all of the current leagues.

Each tournament will be run using LackeyCCG, and we require that players use Skype for voice communications. Both downloads are free:
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for First Edition.
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for Second Edition.
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for Tribbles.
• Download: Skype.

We recommend that players use LackeyCCG in a trial game before the first round of the tournament so they can familiarise themselves with the controls. The Chat Room is a good place to find players for test games.

Players may participate in as many or as few online league events as they wish. Registering for one tournament does not force you to play in every tournament.
