Peldor Joi, Upcoming Events, Week 3

by Andrea Heywood-Lobban, Tribbles Art Manager

14th December 2015

Week three of the Peldor Gratitude Festival is upon us! Peldor Joi!  There is still time to celebrate the season and find a tournament near you!  And as always, if you do not see one in your area, please consider running one yourself, or joining in an online version!

A reminder that we have multiple threads open discussing different events. Check the forums for more details and for ongoing updates.

Upcoming Events:

December 15, 2015

Nathan Miracle (GooeyChewie) is hosting a ‘Just for fun, so go crazy’ event! Donations going to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Food Pantry.

Remember, you can only bend the rules as many times as you have items to donate, so bring plenty.’

December 19, 2015

‘This will be a Bend the Rules Peldor Joi tournament! Players are able to bring as many cans as they like to donate, and can "spend" them during games for extra abilities. In addition, this will be a Face of the Enemy release event! Assuming tournament kits are available, one will be provided as additional prizes. But this will be the first opportunity to play with the new cards in Face of the Enemy! So come out and play with new cards, and support charity while you do it!’

Charity TBD.

December 20, 2015

Hosted by Michael Shea, this will be their 2nd annual holiday tournament, and first Peldor! ‘Entry fee’ of $5 plus 3 non-perishable food donations.  All donations will be given to the Lost-n-found Charity for homeless LGBT youth.

‘There will also be a theme this year: A Time to Stand. Each player must bring two decks. One deck must contain one to three of the following "good" headquarters/affiliations: Bajoran, DS9/ES9, NA (non-Khan), Klingons, Relativity, Starfleet, TOS, TNG, Voyager. The other deck must contain one to three of the following "evil" headquarters/affiliations: Borg, Cardassian, Dominion, Ferengi, To Rule in Hell, Maquis, Romulans, Terok Nor. Each round, players will flip a coin to determine whether they are “good” or “evil” for the round, with each pairing to pit “good” against “evil.” Because there will be an element of chance, this will be an unsanctioned event.

Finally, because this will be unsanctioned event, we will be playing with “Bend the Rules” conditions. In addition to the donation required as part of the fee, you may bring extra cans/shelf-stable food items to bend the rules during your games.

Everyone playing in this tournament will win, in addition to whatever achievements your deck(s) are eligible for, two TrekCC achievements: “Peldor Joi” and “Bend the Rules.” Plus, in addition to standard prize support and holiday prize support, the winner and one random player will also receive a limited edition “Peldor Joi” button. Please register so that I can obtain the proper amount of holiday prize support. Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Joyous Kwanza! Peldor Joi!’

Brian Sykes (Armus) is TD of this Peldor Joi Chase the Can event. Please bring 3 cans of food (soup, etc. ) - Director will provide extras if needed. Winner of each game takes a can from opponent. Person with most cans gets special prize!

'If you're in the DC/MD/VA area and are looking for a fun way to celebrate the season, come on out on 12/20 and may the best can win!'

December 21, 2015

‘Peldor Joi! Bring cans (entry fee: bring at least one can), and spend them during your games to Bend the Rules. Spent cans will be donated afterwards to a local food bank.’

December 22, 2015

‘Episode 5 for our 2015-2016 Star Trek League! We continue our Return to Farpoint series and so sets 1-10 (plus the 10th anniversary collection) are legal for construction!

All Donations to be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Food Panty.

‘Episode 6 for our 2015-2016 Star Trek league!’

All Donations to be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Food Panty.

January 2, 2016

'This year's gig will take place on Saturday 1/2/16, and in honor of it being our tenth year, we will be returning to where it all began by hosting this event at Outpost 2000 & Beyond in Coon Rapids. As usual, registration will start at 11:30 a.m. and following pod assignments, we will begin drafting at high noon. Each entrant will be given a randomly assigned starter deck and several randomly assigned packs to draft from, with no restrictions on who can be played to the HQ(s). The tournament entrance fee is $20, however it is a recommended donation, not a hard requirement, so anything that can be spared will gladly be accepted. All proceeds from entrance fees and end of day auction sales will once again benefit In the Spirit Prison Ministries, as we once again attempt to raise enough money to sponsor a family in the Philippines for an entire year over the course of one day of gaming amongst friends.

Lastly but not leastly, in tandem with the Continuing Committee's Peldor Joi celebration, please consider bringing a food shelf donation to support the Twin Cities area Second Harvest Heartland charities. For this event only, canned goods can be treated as currency for the above mentioned "pick your poison" pairings, and will also be considered for preference regarding the "To Be the Man... You Gotta Beat The Man" challenge(s). So, with that all said, bring your wallet, your canned goods, and your A-Game as we once again ring in the New Year for charity in a few short weeks!'

January 3, 2016

This is an online monthly tournament, starting January 3, 2016 and asking or charitable donations as entry fees. The suggested amount is $3-5. There is no ‘can’ variant as this is an online tournament. However please donate through the CC Promenade and contact MidnightLich to make sure this donation makes it to our TBD Charity!
