Hindsight: A Design Reflection Podcast

In 2014, the 20th anniversary of the Star Trek CCGs, I began an ambitious project to review every expansion, both 1E and 2E, from a modern designers point of view. Unfortunately, I started a full time job shortly after beginning the series and quickly ran out of steam, leaving the series abandoned only a quarter of the way through. It's about time I revived the series, and while I don't have the time to bring it back as articles, I do have the time to bring it back as a podcast, which I'm proud to announce today.

Hindsight: A Design Reflection Podcast, will attempt to continue and complete the original goal of Hindsight. That goal was to analyze each expansion for both First Edition and Second Edition, from their first set through their most recent, through a modern designer's eye. I was hoping to understand why designers made the decisions they did, and to learn from those decisions. The goal was never to mock the work of those designers, nor to lay the groundwork for a third edition, but simply to gain a greater understanding.

Today, I release Episode 0, where I explain the origin of this podcast and the methods and doctrine I'll use as we move forward. Then, join me every Friday as I release a new episode, continuing right where the articles left off with 2E's Dangerous Missions. I will also, as time permits, go back and record podcasts for the articles already written, so at the end of the day, this podcast will be a complete archive.

I hope you enjoy giving this a listen, and will join me on the ride throughout history.
