European Continetal Championships Schedule

by Julius Melhardt, ECC 2016 Organizer

23rd June 2016

Dear European ST:CCG community (and travelers from other planes of existence),

I'm happy and proud to present the full schedule for this year's European Continental Championships in Vienna. Over the course of three days, we are offering a total of 18 tournaments! This is what we have planned for you:

Friday, July 22nd:

12:00 pm: The Continentals will open on Friday at noon with the first main event; Day 1 of the 1E Continental Championships. This is, of course, going to be an OTF constructed tournament. We're playing 4 rounds of swiss; the top 4 will qualify for Day 2, played Saturday evening.

12:30 pm: For the first 2E and Tribbles players arriving, we're starting with one round of Tribbles (With Troubles).

2:00 pm: The first 2E event of the weekend, a 2E Academy constructed (4 rounds).

7:00 pm: The first evening continues an European tradition with this funny (and unofficial) 2E constructed with a few liquid special rules.

7:00 pm: For those of us who don't drink (or don't play 2E), one more Tribbles tournament.

Saturday, July 23rd:

9:00 am: The main event for the majority of attendees begins now: Day 1 of the 2E Continental Championships. A standard constructed tournament over 7 rounds of swiss; the top 8 (or top 16 if we have 25 or more players) will qualify for Day 2, played on Sunday.

10:00 am: For the early birds among our 1E players, one round of Tribbles.

11:30 am: Another Tribbles tournament (With Troubles).

1:30 pm: Here comes the first 1E event of the day, a Virtual OTF constructed (3 rounds).

6:30 pm: For all 1E players who haven't qualified for the finals, here's an alternative to watching: an OTSD open sealed (3
rounds). WARNING: pre-registration required, limited materials available. Participants are welcome to bring a (sealed) OTSD box instead
of the entry fee. We'll use open format rules, and will play all cards as printed (suspending all errata). That's right, Borg Ship, Q, and
Wormhole will work as they used to!

7:00 pm: Day 2 of the 1E Continental Championships; the top 4 from Day 1 are playing 2 single elimination rounds of OTF constructed.

7:00 pm: For all 2E players who aren't worn out yet, the evening provides a chaotic 2E Slipstream Constructed (4 rounds).

Sunday, July 24th:

9:00 am: Day 2 of the 2E Continental Championships will be played as a double elimination bracket among the qualified top 8 (or 16) from Day 1.

10:00 am: Starting the day for 1E players is a Traditional OTF constructed (3 rounds).

11:30 am: For all 2E players who haven't qualified (or lost two games already) here starts a 2E Race to the Alpha Quandrant constructed
tournament (3 rounds).

2:30 pm: After the challenges of the OTSD open sealed here's something more familiar to cool down: a 1E OTF Block constructed (3 rounds).

3:00 pm: To celebrate the new 2E draft expansion, a 2E Infinite Diversity Remastered Draft (3 rounds). (the TD table will appreciate
your help during any prior waiting periods, cutting all those virtual boosters!)

7:00 pm: Closing the weekend, THE main event, the one you've all been waiting for: The Tribbles Continental Championships (with 8 or more players this one's going to last 2 rounds, one qualification round and a final table).

I'm hoping this schedule provides ample challenge and fun for everyone, and I'm looking forward to a lot of great games. See you all in Vienna!
