2016 Worlds Promos & Global Side Event Challenge

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

25th July 2016

The 2016 World Championships are just over a month away! Hosted for the first time in London, the three-day event will see players from across the world battle for supremacy in the flagship events for First Edition, Second Edition and Tribbles. And there will be prizes for all, including copies of this year's Jean-Luc Picard themed promos!

This Shakespearean trio of promo cards won't just be available to players in London, however. We're proud to once again offer players around the world a chance at scoring a full set of these 2016 World Championship foil promos in the Global Side-Events Challenge!

The objective of this challenge is simple: play in or win a sanctioned First Edition, Second Edition or Tribbles tournament during the week of the World Championships. Eligible tournaments are those played between Monday, August 29th and Monday, September 5th, inclusive.

Editor's note: The end date has been extended by one day to 9/5 in order to accommodate the Holiday Weekend in some countries.

For each sanctioned tournament for which you are a participant, you'll be entered into a drawing for one of five (5) copies of the promo that matches your event type. For example, if you play in a First Edition tournament, you'll be entered to win a copy of the 1E Jean-Luc Picard promo. If you play in a triple header, you'll earn one entry for each different promo. For each sanctioned tournament you win, you'll be entered into a drawing for one of four (4) sets of all three promo foils!

To enter the challenge, talk to your local tournament director or Ambassador and have them register an event in the Tournament system between Monday, August 29th and Monday, September 5th, inclusive. Events must be fully sanctioned per sanctioning guidelines in the Organized Play Guide. Then, all you have to do is attend the tournament and play (or win)!

Tournament directors must post the results of these tournaments on or before Sunday, September 11. Winners will be drawn on the 12th and announced on the 13th of September!
