One Month Left to Bid for the 2012 World Championships

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

18th May 2011

In April, we announced the opening of bids for the 2012 World Championships. Those bids are still being accepted, and are due on or before Friday, June 10, 2011. This leaves just about one month left for interested groups to put together a bid for this major championship event.

Individuals and player groups interested in sponsoring this major event should download the Organized Play Bid Template in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word to begin the process.

Excerpted from the application: "Our goal is to ensure that every group across the globe gets the chance to show off the advantages of their area, and has the opportunity to host a major event. But please understand that this process is a lot of work, and every time we host an event in a new area, a lot of up-front work has to be done by the volunteers on the ground."

We are currently looking for a player group to host the 2012 World Championships. The event must be held after August 16, 2012, and before the end of October 2012. A bid for the event to be held at GenCon Indy is automatically entered, although that shouldn't preclude other play groups in the same region from entering a bid if they wish to do so.

Applications for this event are due on Friday, June 10, 2011. Late applications may not be considered.

Once the applications have been received, a selection committee will review the completed bids and will select the host city for this major event. Details will be announced shortly after this process is complete.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the application or the process, please consult our FAQ discussion thread.
