Second Edition CRD Update & Errata Changes

by Charlie Plaine, Acting Rules Master

6th June 2011

On Monday, June 6th, 2011, the Second Edition Rules Committee issued a new Current Rulings Document (CRD). As always, this CRD takes effect immediately. CRD updates are usually made on the first Monday of each month.

The CRD is available for download via the link on the front page, or directly via https://www.trekcc.org/op/ST2ECRD.pdf. This month's CRD contains a retraction to a previous ruling.

conditional effects -
This ruling has been retracted and will be removed from the CRD in a subsequent revision.

The scope of the original ruling regarding hidden status changes was deemed to be too wide and to do too much irrevocable damage to the game. As a result, the Design Team and the Rules Team have worked together to ensure that the ruling can safely be retracted and that no future cards will trigger on hidden status changes.

The Second Edition Rules Committee is scheduled to release an update to the CRD on the first Monday of each month. This CRD is effective immediately.

In addition, the Second Edition Design Team has released an updated Errata Document to coincide with today's update to the CRD.

The Errata document is available for download via the link on the front page, or directly via https://www.trekcc.org/op/ST2EErrata.pdf. This month's errata update contains six rulings:

Tragic Turn -
The trigger for the effects on this dilemma has been completely rewritten in order to preserve the original intent but remove the unusual interactions. This dilemma will now only ever trigger once per dilemma, granting an extra kill if the original dilemma killed, or an extra stop if the original dilemma stopped. In addition, it will only trigger on dilemmas that are overcome beneath the mission.

Condition Red -
This event has been slightly reworded (removing the word Also from it's text) to restore its original function.

Hate -
Pursuant to the hidden status change ruling retraction, this dilemma has had it's condition slightly altered, now triggering only when skills are gained as a result of paying a cost.

James T. Kirk (Original Thinker) -
This personnel now must be removed from the game to use his ability.

Mara (Science Officer) -
This personnel now triggers only when [Pa] [Kli] personnel are played (instead of any [Kli]), and may only download interrupts.

Navaar (Experienced Gift) -
This personnel now uses a "When" trigger instead of a "While," limiting her ability to one use per dilemma.

The Second Edition Design Team is scheduled to release an update to the Errata Document on the first Monday of each month. These errata are effective immediately.
