Worlds 2012 Heads to Australia

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

5th October 2011

After the record-breaking success of the 2010 World Championships in Germany in 2012, The Continuing Committee is proud to award the 2012 World Championship to the community of players in Australia. This landmark event will take place at the site of the past few Australian Continental Championships, Sydney, New South Wales..

While all three of our games have experienced growth since the founding of The Continuing Committee, our peers in Australia have built some of the most remarkable play groups and organized play events in the world. We would not be able to claim and support a doctrine of equality on high level play without giving the players of Australia the chance to compete in the top-level event.

Over the next several weeks and months, the incredibly talented and hard working Matthyas "stoovie" Kiraly will be working with the rest of our Department of Organized Play to finalize, publicize, and execute the plans for the 2012 World Championship. Stay tuned to our front page and our Organized Play forums for the latest news and announcements.

We'd also like to thank the other player groups that put in the time and energy to submit bits to host the 2012 World Championship. Please know that you made compelling cases and that it's likely we'll be calling upon you to host large events in the future.

Worlds 2012. Australia. Will you be ready?
