Chairman's Challenge IV at Essen SPIEL '08

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

14th September 2008

Sunday, October 26th, 2008. Essen SPIEL will see the return of competitive Trek with the 4th Chairman's Challenge event - and this one might be the biggest one yet.

Why's it called a Chairman's Challenge? Because I, the Chairman of The Continuing Committee, must approve all of these events. And also because I'm going to issue you a challenge; if you accept, not only will you have fun, but you'll earn an extra share of the prizes. It's time to shake things up and to make you look at old cards in a new light.

Your challenge for Chairman's Challenge IV: Build, play with, and win with a Neutral Zone Deck.

What's a Neutral Zone Deck, you ask? Simply put, it's a deck where each of your non-Headquarters missions are Region: Neutral Zone, and your Headquarters is either Next Generation Earth, Romulus or Ferenginar. Of course, you don't have to take up the challenge, and can play any deck.

Update: The Ferengi Alliance has made a generous... "donation" in order to be able to take part in this event as well. So, the previous definition of the Neutral Zone deck has been amended to allow the Ferengi to participate as well!

Every player that participates in this event will receive a 0D12 •Investigate Massacre foil for their time. In addition, we'll have a virtual promo card for each of you: 0VP2 Ro Laren (Headstrong Ensign). Finally, the top two players that accept the challenge for this event will receive an ultra-rare 0D22 •Getting Under Your Skin foil.

There will also be a supply of 12R50 Parek (Privileged Legate) cards available for $1 each, if you still need some of this underprinted card.

As a Level 3 event, you'll have to provide decklists - but that's not a bad thing. The more decklists we get into the system, the more resources the entire community will have to learn, develop, and grow. So, you might have to do a little extra work, but in return - you get some extra reward.

So, will you accept the challenge? Are you willing to stare across the Neutral Zone and take on all opponents? Head on over to the tournament page and check out all the details!
