Wednesday 1E Roundup - 9 JAN 2019

by Charlie Plaine, Acting First Edition Brand Manager

9th January 2019

Joran

Welcome to the Wednesday 1E Roundup, a weekly column looking back at the past week in the world of First Edition as well as a preview of the week ahead. If you've got an event coming up and you'd like to be featured in this column, feel free to contact me at cplaine@gmail.com or on the forums via PM to MidnightLich.

The Big News
Will of the Collective, the community-driven design process, is back for a sixth installment. Will of the Collective VI will be making a mission, and possibly a personnel to match! The preview voting step is up now, and voting will remain open until next Wednesday. If you missed out last year on WotC4, which made the Joran that recently debuted in The Gift, this is your chance to make a card!

Tournament Reports
The only completed tournament this past week was in Germany, featuring eight (8) players from Germany, the UK, and Sweeden. Dubbed "Munich Molestation II," this event saw Meinhard S. Rohr [Mogh, Son of Worf] come out on top with an eclectic Terran Empire deck. Johannes Klarhauser [Kaiser] navigated a Klingon/Romulan deck called Hopfen und Maltz to second place, with only a head-to-head loss between the top two players.

Oh, and it seems that Munich Molestation II also featured an Iron Man tournament. If you aren't familiar with the rules of Iron Man, it's a tournament in which cards are physically destroyed when they leave play. Did your Ultra Rare Dr. McCoy just get killed by a Horta? Rip him up! Did opponent pick up their ship with your Cytherians on it? Rip it up! There are pictures on the STCCG Facebook group, if you think you can stomach the destruction.

Tournament Previews
As of this writing of this article, there's only one (1) upcoming 1E tournament, on Sunday the 13th, in San Diego, CA. Run by local superstar JD Ashley [NerdyByNature], there are four (4) players per-registered, including Johnny Holeva [jjh], Rogue Shindler [SirRogue], and Thomas Vineberg [Exon].

If you have tournaments coming up, feel free to schedule them in our tournament system so I can promote them in future articles. If you're running something more casual, I'm happy to promote those events as well if you email them or PM them to me; contact information is at the top and the bottom of this article.

Koth

Our first major championship event of the year looks to be Manassters 2, taking place on Sunday, March 3rd in Manassas Park, VA. With seven (7) players already per-registered, this Trek Masters Series event looks to easily match last year's eight player event. We'll keep you updated on this, and future championship events, as the season unfolds.
