by Julius Melhardt, European OP Coordinator
15th May 2019
Hello to everyone!
Today I would like to give you a more detailed schedule for the upcoming big event in Vienna this August, also known as Worlds 2019. Please not that we haven’t changed anything with the schedule itself (https://www.trekcc.org/articles/index.php?viewArticle=2476), this topic should inform you about the format played.
Thursday, August 8th 2019
- 10:30 am: “Best of Both Worlds”: as mentioned before this tournament will force you to play a game of 1E and 2E Constructed against the same opponent. There will be 3 of this “double-rounds” (so a total of 6 rounds). 1E will be an OTF Constructed, 2E a Constructed Standard. After pairings are made the TD will decide which game has to be played first for each pairing separately by making a coin flip. Then you’ll have 2 ½ hours to play BOTH games. You won’t get any extra time for cleaning the table after your first game. The defeated player of the first game can choose who goes first in the second game. Victory points are accumulated in the normal way. There won’t be a BYE.
- 10:30 am: 1E Open Sealed: 3 rounds Swiss, a standard Sealed event with boosters we have at hand, no Errata. Fixed cards (pre-constructed starters, Starter Deck II fixed cards, OTSD fixed cards,…) will be provided by the TD (and must be returned after the tournament). Please bring your own sleeves along to use them. Depending on the used Boosters an additional fee might be possible. Could be played as a draft – attendee’s decision.
- 10:30 am: 2E Infinite Diversity Draft: 3 rounds Swiss, material will be provided by the TD completely.
- 02:30 pm: 2E “Hall of Fame” Constructed: 4 rounds Swiss, standard rules for Hall of Fame events including the current Ban list.
- 04:00 pm: 1E Virtual OTF Constructed: 3 rounds Swiss, standard rule for 1E Virtual OTF.
- 08:30 pm: 2E Biermeister: 3 rounds Constructed Standard Swiss, for each Victory point you score you’ll have to drink a small beer (0.3 litres) or another drink with similar alcohol percentage (what drinks are legal will be decided by the TD before the tournament starts). Already drunken beverages before this event do not count toward winning. After the last round you’ll have 30 more minutes to finish all the required liquids, all players who did not finish all of them by then will be disqualified. You can drink whenever you want to, each consumed drink will be noted on your scorecard.
