2011 Continentals Promos

The Continuing Committee is proud to, once again, offer Continental Championships for each of our three games (First Edition, Second Edition, and Tribbles) on all three active continents (Australia, North America, and Europe) in June and July 2011.

The winner of each event will win a coveted bye into the 2011 World Championship, being held August 4 - 7 at GenCon Indianapolis. But in addition to that coveted prizes, participants in our Continental Championships (and side events) will vie for a share of prizes, including both virtual and physical promo cards. Here are the 2011 Continental Championship virtual promos:

We should all congratulate Johnny Holeva (jjh) and his entire Graphic Design Team for their continued amazing work. These alternate-image promos are fantastic to look at, and they're even more amazing when assembled as virtual (foil) promos. Our shipping manager Dan Hamman (SirDan) has already been hard at work assembling these promos so we can ensure they arrive on time.

We wanted to try something different with our Continentals promos this year. First of all, this would be our first year offering a Tribbles promo in addition to the promos for 1E and 2E, so it felt like we should do something special. In past years, there's been very little coordination between First Edition and Second Edition promos, and we had a unique opportunity to use a unique theme for this year's promos and do something really special.

The Phoenix is a useful ship in both editions of Star Trek CCG, and it fit will with the ship-centric theme of our upcoming Second Edition expansion (releasing this summer). But that left the Tribbles card out of the theme... until someone suggested that we "fill" the Montana Missile Complex as an alternate-image. Thus, we are able to present to you the Phoenix cycle of Continental promos; we hope that you'll be as excited to earn them as we have been to produce them.

The three Continental Championship weeks are rapidly approaching. Have you made plans to attend the ones nearest you? Here is a run down of the important details of each. We can't wait to see this year's competition and see what it will bring!
