The bad part is we dont have a real "local admin" presence there that would get the benefit of being able to attend at a "cheaper" rate. So most folks are forced to attend, paying high hotel costs and such.

I do agree that more sealed events and beginner tournaments are what are needed to attract new players. That should be the bigger focus at a place like a convention.
