Does Blind Spot allow you to follow even if you don't have enough RANGE? Or does it only allow you to follow as far as your next turn's RANGE would normally allow?

Because, if not, I don't see what advantage you would gain by spending your card play on Blind Spot - if your opponent moves next turn, you can always move to follow on YOUR next turn, as Klingon Border Patrol only checks to see if you're still present at the END of your turn, after you've had a chance to manually follow any fleeing opponent.

Two reasons for the use of Blind Spot:

If the opponent ship moves using a Wormhole card your ship moves along with their ship, too.

If the opponent’s ship moves to a Time Location or to a different quadrant, your ship does, too (if if you had no way to get to the other quadrant or Time Location),
