For [SF] deck your temporal benefactor is Jonathan archer - this gives your one mission specialist who is now not a specialist but seed phase played (Danica Erickson)
I think she’s still a mission specialist, actually—she can “use” his regular skills but doesn’t “gain” them, right?

I mean if making Jonathan Archer the Benefactor makes her not a mission specialist, then she can't be downloaded by AMS in the Facility seed phase; Temporal Benefactor seeds in the Doorway seed phase.
I do believe you are right. She can use the skills of Archer but only has one skill on the card, keeping her as a mission specialist. Of course I believe she only scores those points when she uses her printed skill, not any of Archer's skills.

Not sure though why [Vul] decks would use [SF] T'Pol as a benefactor because then they can't use T'Pol in their decks.

Shouldn't we have an article relating to this card coming out sometime soon?

My inclination is no since any attribute added to a card only works in they are in play unless it is specifically added with a phrase like "even if not in play".
sorry if i missed it but... is there any answer to this question?

Because some people would value adding all her skills to about 7 other people you probably have in your deck already including som very useful skills like diplomacy; and that that might be more useful then having one more random Vulcan no matter how good she is. Adding 5 or so skills to that many people is a lot of value. Also because of the shere number of them it makes use it temporal almanac as a suplimentary draw engine a very real possibility.

Not what I would do but to each their own. That's the beauty of 1E is playing the way one wants to.

Yes. I'm supposed to write it, but have mostly been trying (and mostly failing) to write Cold Front achievements. Once those are done, article.

How many of these folks mention a legal Benefactor? 1? 3? There is no Leonard McCoy or McCoy or "God" forbid Kirk and McCoy.

Many McCoys have "McCoy" in lore, as do these personnel. Does that matter? (seriously)

Also, did we ever get an official ruling on the "even if not in play" this esp. for Out of Time?

Thank you

Here's a Temporal Benefactor question that Aaron and I were 'discussing' last night. I don't think it has been discussed yet.

It involves the interaction and timing between the following cards.
Temporal Benefactor
Quantum Leap
Jonathan Archer (Cold Front)

Here's the scenario.
Jonathan Archer is under Temporal Benefactor, and has the skills of OFFICER and Arc.
According to Temporal Benefactor T'Pol "may use" Archer's skills
T'Pol (Pre-Warp Pack) is attempting a mission and encounters Quantum Leap.

When T'Pol resolves the first sentence of Quantum Leap she chooses not to 'use' Archer's skills so she won't be relocated as an OFFICER.
However, when T'Pol resolves the second sentence of Quantum Leap she chooses to 'use' Archer's skills and use his Arc to help overcome the 2 Arc requirement for Quantum Leap.

Is that a legitimate understanding of how 'may use' works on Temporal Benefactor as it relates to dilemma resolution?

It is your choice how to use the skills each time a situation evolves that requires you to make a choice. Refer to "use" in the glossary where Art of Diplomacy is the template.
