[The Guardian]

Every once in a while, we get the 2E conversion of a 1E card. This project converts each 1E card that does not have a 2E version yet. Generally, I take a gameplay standpoint and avoid overpowered mechanics. I work within the mechanics, icons, and keywords we already have. I try to retain the spirit of the card in some fashion, even if I have to change story for gameplay or vice versa. Afterwards, I would love feedback and will even alter the card further and save the collaborated results for comparison if the case arises.

Sprinkle on a few more skills. Add a drawback to having aliens around and cut the natural cost in half. Bingo. Samuels is a deal in a Terra Prime set up, but a distraction in a Kumbaya deck. I had to put Infiltrator on him to match the other Terra Prime personnel we have. I can understand for Masaro, but not Josiah Clarke. Still, precedent is precedent, so I’m also updating my John Frederick Paxton from a Dissident to an Infiltrator.

Interesting. I read his ability as the opposite. Outside of a pure human deck (which brings it's own problems) you're better off teaming him with aliens, where his ability will have no effect, than humans, which will.

Either way, it's a nice piece of storytelling in a skill. He blames his misfortunes and tragedies on aliens, who have to stop because they're being harassed.
