Post Chain of Command #12: 28 Days Later
Welcome to Fill in the Blank Season 2: Chain of Command!

Each week I will post the collector’s information for one of the cards in the set’s cardlist. Contestants are free to create whatever card they see fit for that slot in the cardlist, keeping in mind the surrounding cards. As the contest progresses, the cardlist will become more and more defined, guiding the contests’ choices.

The theme of our set is Chain of Command. Not every card has to fit the theme, of course, but it’s something to keep in mind when voting. Speaking of voting, as per normal each contestant will vote for one of the previous week’s entries (with the exception that as the contest runner, I will vote ONLY in the case of a tie).

This week’s winner is… Naetor!

Here are this week’s entries:

Entry A wrote:
[S] •Argus Array, Control Subspace Telescope
[AQ] 40
Astrometrics, Intelligence, Leadership, Programming, Security, Cunning>40 and (a Commander aboard his or her corresponding ship or a [AU] personnel)
When you complete this mission, name a non-Headquarters mission. You may examine cards at that mission at any time.
Forcas sector: The Argus Array can perform long-range scans of great power. This has made it the target of many different factions, in many different realities.
Any affiliation may attempt this mission.
Span 3

Entry B wrote:
[Evt] (5) Receive Mission Specialist
Download a unique personnel with a cost of 4 or less who could be played at your headquarters mission, then place them on your ship. When that personnel uses a skill to complete a mission this turn, score 5 points. You may do this only once per mission attempt. Destroy this event.
"And we've got a passenger for you."
"What sort of passenger?"

Entry C wrote:
[ [Int] Picard Maneuver
Maneuver. When your ship with its corresponding Commander aboard is in an engagement you did not begin, prevent that engagement and place this interrupt on an opponent's ship involved.
Damage - This ship is attributes -2.
Battle tactic invented by Captain Jean-Luc Picard in 2355 when his vessel was involved in an unprovoked attack by an unknown enemy. Required study by Starfleet Academy.

Entry D wrote:
[S] Near Devron System, Investigate Anti-Time Anomaly

[AQ] 35 points

Astrometrics, Diplomacy, Leadership, Office and (Integrity > 33 or Cunning > 35)

Region: Neutral Zone. When you complete this mission, if you command two different affiliation ships at this mission, each with their Corresponding Commander aboard, you may score 10 points.

"Has Starfleet approved this proposal?" "No." "Hmm, I like it already."

[Fed] [Rom]

Span: 3

Entry E wrote:
[P] Beta Agni II, Neutralize Water Contamination

Officer, 2 Science, Geology, Medical and Cunning >35 OR Leadership, Diplomacy, Geology, 2 Medical and Strength >38

When an opponent scores 5 or more points, if he or she has not completed a mission, you may discard two cards from hand to download any non-ship card with a total cost less than or equal to the cards discarded.

Any affiliation (except [Bor]) may attempt this mission. 30 points

Entry F wrote:
[Int] Countermand

When an interrupt is played, stop your Commander personnel aboard his or her corresponding ship to prevent that and shuffle that interrupt into its owner's deck. If it is your turn, you may draw a card. Remove this interrupt from the game.
"Belay that order. Raise shields."

Entry G wrote:
[Int] Preventive Sabotage
Order- Destroy your event. Until the start of your next turn, opponent's cards cannot destroy your events.

Entry H wrote:
[Int] Silent Command
Interrupt
While your personnel is facing a dilemma, he or she gains a Commander keyword from your stopped Commander present. This effect lasts until the end of the mission attempt.
Order - Your personnel gains a Commander keyword from your stopped Commander present. This effect lasts until the end of the turn.
"With an alert crew, even our primitive vocal communications are unnecessary. With a single look I was able to inform my crew that I wanted to hold you here."

Please remember to vote for one of these entries in your post, referencing the entry’s letter.

This week’s contest is...

Card #28! This card must come between Edward Jellico, Experienced Commander (Personnel - Federation - Card #27) and Tomolak, Influential Commander (Personnel - Romulan- Card #32). This card could be a Federation, Ferengi, Klingon or Romulan personnel.

Vote: F (Very difficult choice, as I think there are a lot of very good cards this time.)

My Entry:

[Fed] 4 *Norah Satie, Paranoid Investigator

[Cmd] [E] Human

Anthropology, Diplomacy, Intelligence, Law, Treachery

Admiral. When your Paranoia event is about to be destroyed, you may place your [Fed] personnel present on the bottom of his or her owner's deck to prevent that. You may do this only once each turn.

"...she, or someone like her, will always be with us, waiting for the right climate in which to flourish; spreading fear in the name of righteousness."

Integrity: 3, Cunning: 6, Strength: 4

Notes: Given the similar themes of both the TNG episode “The Drumhead” and the two part DS9 episode “Homefront” and “Paradise Lost” where many of the Paranoia cards come from, it seemed appropriate to make a version of Norah Satie who worked with the Paranoia cards.

This is her nearer the end of the episode, when her true nature has been revealed. She's unethical, (lower Integrity,) immoral (Treachery) and more ruthless (higher Cunning) and so determined to protect the Federation that she'll sacrifice other [Fed] personnel to the cause.

All the Best,

Mattgomery Scott.
