Post 2012 Worlds: Schedule
The following is the preliminary schedule of events for the 2012 World Championships. Please be advised that due to it's size and complexity, it is still subject to change, but consider the main events are all but locked in at this stage.

The five-day schedule has been used at previous Australian Continentals and while grueling at times, certainly befits the grand marathon of Trek that the World Championships deserves to be. This will be one amazing event.

All the events will be held at the primary venue, Bankstown Sports, EXCEPT the Biermeister, which will be hosted in the city at Maloney's Hotel.

Any questions, comments or queries, please post them in this thread.

Tournament listings for all these events will be going up in April 2012 and will be linked to each event's title in this schedule.

====================

WEDNESDAY
Wednesday will be a lighter day, with no major competition and only two events. These are designed for players to socialise, and particularly for the pool of local and international players to become more familiar with each other's varied play styles and customs.

10am - World Academy Championships - 4 rounds - Academy 2e Constructed
Entry: $5
Decklists: Submit online.
Projected Duration: 5 hours
Bring your best Common-Starter-Virtual rarity decks for this brute-force showdown! A level playing field will see gamesmanship and strength of character win out over mad tech!

5:30pm - Australian Biermeister Worlds - 4 rounds - "Australian Biermeister" Academy 2e Constructed (unsanctioned)
Australian Biermeister Rules (coming soon) - 2012 Australian Biermeister Promo Spoiler List (coming soon)
Venue: Maloney's Hotel (click here for a map)
Entry: $10 (drinks are extra)
Decklists: None required.
Projected Duration: 6 hours
The Australian Biermeister Nationals is quite possibly the most talked-about Australian Continentals side event ever, and for good reason! In this Australian version of the Biermeister tournament, using special Australian Biermeister promos in Academy format constructed decks, players aim to achieve the highest honour in Star Trek-related drinking contests, the World Biermeister. Special score cards with drink tracking will be used. This event is open to all players, as drinking is not compulsory (however to be eligible for the prizes, you must participate in the Biermeister according to the Biermeister rules). This event really is fun for all; you can have just one beer, or go all the way vying for the title! As such, it is encouraged that all travelling players attend this fun event to get to know your fellow Australian player, whether over beer, wine or Coca-Cola. :) TIP: Get there earlier to enjoy a value-for-money price buster meal from the Bistro.

Question: when you ask for us to have our own infinite diversity cards, I'm assuming you mean the fixed cards?

For the Champions League, will it be a match-play bracket? If so, how will it be decided who earns the two-round bye should all eligible players be eliminated in the same (pre-finals) round?

Yes.

By this point, I assume that most people attending the Worlds will have played in at least one ID tournament in the past, or at least have printed the cards off for use in their regular decks.

Nope. It will be swiss.

I understand this is a little different to how it's been played in the past, but I have favoured giving everyone a chance to participate in as many events as possible over the weekend, and my understanding is that most Australian players have only participated in at most one year of a WCT league (Team WA in 2010-2011 and the Sydney and Brisbane players in 2011-2012). Also, with a number of the twelve Australians who would qualify I suspect will be planning on participating in the 1e Worlds finals instead, I don't think it's fair to exclude or divide other players for little overall benefit.

Can I use non VP versions of cards for the virtual only tournament? ie: Could I use my real Grav Plating Traps or do I have to print a playset out to use?

Per the OP Guide section on Virtual, "Players may use a physical card in place of a printed card, if such a card exists."

So I would say go ahead - I'm doing the same thing for a couple cards :)

It is a real tough choice between the 2E sealed event on Thursday morning and 1E World champs!

That 2E event sounds amazing!
