RomulanExpand the Romulan Star Empire
Introduction
This tournament was a lot of fun. Each person was given a random TNG starter deck, when we drafted from an entire set of silver-bordered Premiere. The Premiere cards came with an unknown printed card tied into the card that was pulled (behind it in the binder). Finally, 1 AU and 4 TNG block boosters were drafted, and we set out to make decks. Given the Romulan starter, I focused on dilemmas first -- which I know are usually the make-or-break in draft formats -- followed by Romulan personnel and ships. I managed to score an Always A Chess Game behind Tebok (I think), and so I had my main play and draw engine. My big draft was a Subspace Communique with Barclay's Photomorphosis Disease. That combo helped me win three games and would cost me another.

Round 1FederationJoel BrayFW (+30)
Joel drafted Fed but placed his outpost too close to mine. With an early Romulan disruptor download, I was able to kill some key personnel. My SC+BPD combo hit him hard and killed a bunch of people. Unable to find an Office of the President, Joel was playing slower than he had hoped and I was able to get through my missions for the win.

Round 2KlingonJohnny HolevaFL (-100)
Johnny had drafted Illigetimate Leader. We both had rough draws, so I spent a lot of turns being unable to get many free plays or draws. Johnny's play of the game happened early when a Computer Virus hit my D'deridex and I was unable to move freely to my missions. He had a nice Kevin Uxbridge destruction of my Lower Decks to delay me a number of turns before beating me.

Round 3FederationRogue ShindlerFW (+90)
Rogue drafted Fed, but I was able to kill off some of his Medical personnel during a battle and he failed my SC+BPD combo. It was too much for him and I cruised to a victory.

Round 4RomulanThomas VFL (-65)
TV drafted Romulan but was playing the Underground. He had delayed me for awhile, but I thought I was sitting good. The play of the tournament was when he used Subspace Interference to cancel my SC and barely avoided having his crew die to BPD. He then used those 10 points to secure a 2-mission win while I would have been able to win the game the next turn.

Round 5JD_AshleyFW (+100)
JD drafted Legitimate Leader. JD found my SC+BPD combo early, and his crew (Gowron included) was massacred. He was never able to recover as I crusied to a win.

Closing Thoughts
This was a really fun event. I'm looking forward to playing a similar format at Nationals in two weeks.
