RomulanT1 Romulans -- The Non Runner-up Edition
Introduction
My fantasy football draft got moved so I was able to make this event. I needed to put something together on somewhat short notice. With Johnny, TK, a streaking Matt Kirk, and a possible newly minted Continental champion Chris Donati appearing at this event (he did not appear), I wanted to go with something competitive but wouldn't take much time. I dusted off my old Romulan deck and got Dan to lend me a few cards.

Round 1DS9Non-AlignedCharlie PlaineFW (+95)
Charlie was playing thieves and managed to steal my GUYS early and generate his own points. However, I was still able to get my bonus point engine moving and power through my missions with some big personnel and timely stop prevention. Meanwhile, Charlie struggled at space as a combination of Gomtuu and Outclassed stalled him for a while. After eating a Whispers early, I correctly guessed his Sylvia play and scored the full win. FW: 100-5.

Round 2RelativityDan HammanFW (+65)
Dan was playing Relativity. Without any event destruction, I wasn't able to keep The Play's the Thing off the table. However, Dan was short on mission skills and a few lucky random selections meant he spent more time at space than he wanted to. Meanwhile, he couldn't catch a break drawing dilemmas either. I was able to crack my missions just as he was starting to get moving. FW: 100-35.

Round 3Hell's HeartJohnny HolevaMW (+30)
Johnny was playing Khan with Genesis planet. Johnny is a tremendous competitor, so even when playing a deck that (I believe) is low on the power curve, he is still a dangerous opponent. I neglected to Power Shift my way to my 3rd mission where I would've ended at 95 and be at the mercy of the GUYS/P&P gods, so I ended my last turn with space-planet, a third mission buried, and 65 points. Time was called during Johnny's final turn with him at 35 and at Genesis with 1 dilemma underneath. Had he solved Genesis we would have tied. However, I was able bury his mission with Pitching In > Oracle's Punishment > Excalbian Drama, which secured the win. MW: 65-35.

Round 4BajoranThomas VFW (+95)
TV was playing weenie Bajorans, assassination, and Political Putsch. However, I was able to get around the Putsch and started dropping my events. Meanwhile, I abused him with Gomtuu, landing it three times. He was able to bring over a ship to assassinate three of my personnel, but it was too late as I had already gotten out a lot of my mission skills and powerful dilemma busting personnel. With 25 Power Shift points to spend, I sent down Ptol, Mareth, and Karina to three person solve Iconia Investigation to get the win. FW: 100-5.

Closing Thoughts
I definitely was 'over-dressed for the occasion' with my choice of draw deck. These Romulans can really steamroll dilemma piles if you are able to get your point engine rolling and get out Donatra and the stooges.
