The Cardassian Illusion |
Introduction |
I played a slim Tain deck with lots of mission solving tricks. |
|
Round 1 | | Oliver Thust | FW (+35) |
Oliver was playing Ferengi. After I whiffed on his first mission attempt the game was neck and neck down to the wire. A timely Back to Basics restocked my deck. Then Telle threw off his dilemmas at the last mission and I was able to escape with the win. |

Round 2 | | Justin Ford | FW (+50) |
Justin was playing 2 mission win Relativity. 70% of the way through my deck and I wasn't able to draw into Tain, so I was slow out of the gate. A few Central Commands regained me some much needed ground. Then I was able to gain a 3rd Leadership with Premiere Garak to beat Dignitaries to nab the win. |

|
Round 3 | | Amber Van Breemen | FW (+40) |
Amber was also playing no HQs so Bashir was again pricey. However, this game I was able to get Tain out early and get the draws I needed. I thought the game was in hand after Ensnaring Chakotay and Kes (2 Anthro), but when Amber dropped Rescue Captives the game tightened up again. Fortunately I was able to dodge Amber's D2/S2 -- again giving Garak a mission skill this time -- to complete the win. |

Closing Thoughts |
Cardassians are a fun solver. They are pretty fast, have lots of dilemma busting tricks, and have some defense courtesy of Ensnared. It'll be interesting to see what, if anything, they pick up in the next expansion. |
