BorgSuper Fun Cards
Introduction
I retooled my 2013 Iowa Regional Stop First Contact deck for this regional. I switched out some dilemmas and dropped a few unused cards from the tent and deck.

Round 1FederationJason BeyerFW (+100)
Jason was playing a Federation deck with Sherman's Peak and Cetacean Institute. As such we duplicated Earth. I was a tad surprised when he didn't seed dilemmas at Earth, I found out later that he didn't expect me to go for Earth and piled some extra dilemmas on my other missions. I had a decent start with a Queen and Locutus in my opening hand. We both spent the first couple turns building up some personnel until I headed out to Earth. Jason cloaked his Future Enterprise while I was approaching and when to SP to pick up some guys. Having to only face my dilemmas at Earth I was able to finish scouting in a turn. Unfortunately for Jason, on the following turn he came back to the spaceline with his Future Enterprise and most of his personnel to attempt a mission and ran into Edo Probe/Cytherians. The next turn I completed SFC and he lost almost everyone in his deck. There were a few more turns as I scouted Wolf 359 for Salvage Starship and completed it for the win, 100-0.

Round 2RomulanMatthew McClainFW (+37)
Matthew was playing a Romulan 6 space mission deck, 5 of which were Patrol Neutral Zone. I wasn't too put off by this as I only had 2 planet dilemmas but, all of his missions being 5 span did delay my movement a bit. The game started similar to game 1 as built up our forces. Matthew TMW Admiral Kirk in to get Genesis Effect on his outpost mission II and prevented my Dead End to score his Kurlan Naiskos. I had gotten a scouting attempt or two in on Earth when he went for his second mission, where he too hit the Cytherians and thanks to Mission Debriefing I had a chance to catch it a blow it up with Eliminate Starship. I went back to working on SFC while he played some more guys. It wasn't until the turn I started scouting for Salvage Starship that he got another ship, the Scimitar, which was on the bottom of his deck. He dropped the Kurlan Naiskos on it to make it 39 weapons and damaged my cube. I thought I saved it by TNG'ing to the opposite end of the spaceline but he dropped Quantum Slipstream Drive to chase me down and blew up my cube. Fortunately I had gotten my scout vessel out and was able to complete SS on my next turn for the win, 100-63.

Round 3KazonJohn Paul VeaseyFW (+61)
John was playing a Kazon deck, seeding the new Voyager. I had a similar start, only getting an FC Queen this time and no Locutus. After the outpost build I drew into Locutus and did get the SoG Queen after the masaka, but forgot to persona swap for like 3 turns. Fortunately for me, John was also making some mistakes, heading out early to attempt his DQ space mission with Voyager and a minimal crew got hit with Subspace Shockwave stranding Voyager. The next turn he came over again with a Kazon Raider, with a small crew, hitting Gomtuu which destroyed Voyager and destaffed his Raider. After a couple of scouting attempts at Earth I finished SFC. I believe the following turn John finished his space mission for 45 points and got to reattempt Liberation lost some points to THTF, and hit Dead End. I finished out SS and took the win, 100-39.

Closing Thoughts
I had a great time, and despite my mistakes in the last game managed to take the tournament win. I did not have to face Michael who was also playing a They Will Be Coming deck, which is probably for the best due to the tech I was running for just such an occasion. It was a great regional weekend which I got to enjoy with everyone there. Thanks again to Michael for running the event.
