Know Your Rules: Anatomy of a Ferengi Card

by Brad DeFruiter, Lead Designer

28th May 2008

What does it mean to be a loyal subject of the Ferengi? Let me list things that you may or may not know about the design of the Ferengi:

• The Ferengi are skill-heavy and attribute-light.

• The Ferengi like to stockpile things.

• The Ferengi are able to convert assets to other assets.

• The Ferengi should be fun.

• The Ferengi like to gain big rewards for jumping through hoops.

• The Ferengi are able to convert assets to other assets.

• The Ferengi like to get rewards for random happenings – they like to gamble.

• The Ferengi like to have more stuff than their opponents have.

• The Ferengi are able to convert assets to other assets.

• The Ferengi don’t like it when someone has more stuff than they have.

• What happens and how one is viewed via Ferenginar is important to the Ferengi.

• The Ferengi are able to convert assets to other assets.

• The Rules of Acquisition are important to the Ferengi.

I hope that this list gives players and fans of STCCG Second Edition some insight and a better appreciation of the Ferengi.
