Make it So Challenge #6 Results

by Charlie Plaine, Make it So Host

28th February 2014

Gray Matters, the sixth challenge (the second of the team phase) challenged each team with creating six (6) new cards to enhance, augment, or otherwise "improve" a subset of dilemmas of their own choosing. The downloader dilemmas and dilemma enhancers that first appeared in Shades of Gray were given as examples, but teams were given a great deal of freedom in deciding which dilemmas to improve, and how to improve them. Before we take a look at the results, lets take a look at the teams for this challenge:

Team Spock (Plotting and Scheming)
Stephen G. (Zef'no)
Daniel Matteson (OKCoyote)
Sean O'Reilly (Jono)

Team Riker (Career Paths)
Michael Moskop (Comicbookhero)
Adam Hegarty (Chewie)
James Monsebroten (Orbin)

Team Kira (Shades of Gray)
James Heaney (BCSWowbagger)
Paddy Tye (KazonPADD)
Matthew Hayes (karonofborg13)

Results

Before we look at the results, I wanted to take a minute to commend and thank the scheduled guest judge for this challenge, Corbin Johnson. One of the contestants made a post on the forums that unintentionally revealed which team he had been a part of; though this contestant quickly deleted the post, Corbin saw it in that window of time. Because this contestant and Corbin were friends, Corbin felt it was the fairest option for him to recuse himself from judging this challenge. This is quite a display of integrity, and we want to publicly thank Corbin for his honesty and the time he had invested in this competition.

Here are the collected results from this challenge:

Place Card Team Public Score Allen's Score Dan's Score Corbin's Score Total Score
1 Plotting and Scheming Team Spock 44.35 47 47.5 --- 138.85
2 Career Paths Team Riker 52.11 51 52 --- 155.11
3 Shades of Gray Team Kira 43.98 52 47 --- 142.98

Congratulations to Team Riker (Adam Hegarty, James Monsebroten, and Michael Mosktop) for their victory with their "Career Path" themed dilemma enhancers. It was a very close race between Team Spock and Team Kira, with less than five (5) points separating the teams. For detailed results, check out the Challenges page of the Make it So subsite. You can find a breakdown of the public votes for each card, as well as all of the comments from the judges and those from the public.
