Rak'tazan

The second of the two converted cards in this expansion, we have the Dominion Jem'Hadar support personnel: Rak'tazan. Often, conversions which are support personnel are ones who had three skills in their Second Edition (2E) form, with one of those skills becoming the First Edition (1E) classification. However, Rak'tazan was in the interesting position of having only two skills on his 2E card, and so was already a support personnel. One was indeed a 1E personnel type, OFFICER, which has become his 1E classification (making him only the third universal [Dom] with OFFICER as a classification, and only the second that's not a hologram). His other skill was the 2E-specific "Astrometrics", which was a hybrid of Astrophysics and Stellar Cartography. According to the conversion rules, you could essentially use it as whichever of those two skills you wanted at the time. Consequently, he could be considered to have both of those 1E skills … and so those are the two skills which are now printed on his new 1E card.

Rak'tazan will fit into many Dominion decks, since Dominion War Efforts makes support personnel very attractive to them. As a universal, he also combines well with Young Jem'Hadar and New Arrivals. In his 2E form, I used him recently in an OTF deck, which is reposted below.
