Continuing Committee Collecting Cash

by Darren Lacoste, Director of Public Relations

22nd January 2008

When it was announced that What You Leave Behind would be the last Decipher-sponsored expansion for the Star Trek: Customizable Card Game, Charlie Plaine was ready - ready to stand-up and organize a group of passionate players to continue the organizational structure we've all grown to love so much. Several months later, The Continuing Committee was born, and ushered in an entirely new era for our beloved game. Many of you sent emails and message board posts saying We'd like to help. What can we do? There have been many answers to that question, and many requests for volunteers have been answered, for which The Committee is grateful. It is with this spirit in mind that we approach you today.

As you are certainly aware, creating an organization like The Continuing Committee is not without its costs. The servers which currently host https://www.trekcc.org, for example, are ill-equipped to sustain our growing community as we look to the future... and we are indeed growing. In less than two months, the message boards membership is nearing the 200 mark, and more and more members are signing-up each day. Add to that The Committee's need to become a not-for-profit organization - and the associated incorporation fees - and the result is a genuine need for cash.

On the main page for the Continuing Committee (https://www.trekcc.org), you'll find a recent addition: a Donations section. It is our hope that each and every one of you who believes in our cause, who values the continued game play already being worked on under the guidance of Brad DeFruiter, who relies on the stability of rules enforcement ensured by Michael Keller, who looks forward to attending a tournament within a fair and organized play structure overseen by Matt Kirk... will help ensure that this great community of ours will continue to not only sustain itself, but to continue to grow as we progress into the future. No amount is too small; our power is in our collectivity.

After an encounter with the Prophets, Grand Nagus Zek wrote the Revised Rules of Acquisition. We here at The Continuing Committee are hopeful that you will take number 285 to heart: A good deed is its own reward.
