Now Hiring: Design Interns

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

30th November 2015

The Reagent's Flagship

The Continuing Committee is looking for interested players from around the world to join either the Department of First Edition or the Department of Second Edition as design interns. Design interns are brought onto design projects on a case-by-case basis, but participate in their projects as full designers. Bringing in fresh eyes and fresh perspectives will improve the overall quality of the games. Interns that excel while working on their projects may be invited to join the design team on a permanent basis.

Detailed descriptions of each position are posted on the Volunteer page. The applications are Google forms that ask applicants to write about design philosophy and to design cards. It is expected each application will take between 30 and 60 minutes to complete.

In order to make the process as easy as possible, we have created a thread on each Gameplay forum (First Edition | Second Edition) to allow applicants and observers to ask questions. Several of our current designers will be monitoring these threads and answering questions as time permits. The questions on the applications are such that they do not have "correct" solutions, but the Q&A threads will allow applicants to get help on their answers. We have also created a PDF worksheet for each game. These worksheets First Edition | Second Edition) are simply downloadable paper copies of the application questions, intended to allow applicants to work on their application prior to submitting it digitally. The use of the worksheets is not required, and they are simply provided as an additional tool.

Applications are now open and will remain open until we no longer have positions to fill. Please remember that there are a very small number of positions available, and completing an application does not guarantee acceptance. As positions open up in the future, existing applications will be the first place we look to fill those positions. The time and energy required to complete these applications is very much appreciated.
