Regionals and Trek Masters Series Prizes

by Charlie Plaine, Director of First Edition

24th February 2020

Ladies, and gentlemen, and non-binary friends: welcome to the Year of the Cardassian.

For the past several years, we've had a lot of fun theming our organized play promos around different affiliations. We've been going in the order the affiliations were introduced in First Edition, and after featuring Federation, Romulan, Klingon, Non-Aligned, and the Borg, it's time for the Cardassians to reign supreme. And to kick things off, we've got a trio of Cardassian-themed promos that will be awarded at Regionals this year - take a look:

Evek Evek 1 Tribble - Process

These promos will be provided to most of our Regional Championship events, and the good news is that you can still sign up to run such an event. If you do, you'll have the change to put some of these sweet promos into the hands of your players - and maybe get one yourself. Who couldn't use a little more Cardassian efficiency, courtesy of Gul Evek, in their lives? In addition to promos, most of our Regional Championship events will get numerous copies of the 2020 Regional Championship badge/button:

2020 Regional Championship Button

Please note that the actual buttons will be a 1-inch diameter circle and round - the graphics are just square so the printing wraps around the side.

Of course, if you've been paying attention to our theming, you know that we typically pair a commander (as the Regional promo) with his or her ship (as the Trek Masters Series promo). We wouldn't want to disappoint Cardassian fans by breaking the pattern, so if you find yourself at one of our Nationals or Trek Masters Series events in 2020, you can get your hands on one of these:

Vetar Vetar 1,000 Tribbles - Process

You'll have a chance to win copies of these promos at any of our Trek Masters Series or National Championship events. You can get a look at all of our championship events on our championship page, which is updated throughout the year. The first chance for players to get this promos is at the Trek Masters Series event at the Lock Yard in Brooklyn, New York, USA on March 14th and 15th.

For our Trek Masters Series events, we also have special buttons/badges and a some special playmats to give out. All participants will get one of the following collectible buttons/badges for their collection:

As with the Regional buttons above, the actual buttons will be a 1-inch diameter circle and round - the graphics are just square so the printing wraps around the side. All participants will get the silver [Stf] star button on the left, but the winner of each Trek Masters Series event will get the gold [Cmd] star version. Winners will, if playing in a First Edition or Second Edition event, also get one of these excellent Cardassian-colored playmats:

You might have noticed that I didn't mention Tribbles winners, and you'd be right. But that's not because we're excluding Tribbles, but rather because we're trying something new - smaller playmats for Tribbles. These guys are mousepad sized, and we'll be sending several to each Tribbles Trek Masters Series event - take a look:

This year, be prepared to answer questions about how many prizes you see as the Year of the Cardassian begins in just a few short weeks. Don't be mistaken about how many copies of the promos, buttons/badges, and playmats you have in your collections. Set your sights on nearby Regional, Trek Masters Series, or Nationals events near you to claim yours - and if you don't have one near you, ask about running one!
