When we started the promo-a-week project, one nice pair of dilemmas which got included were Scientific Method and Unscientific Method - a classic dilemma combo since 1999! However, changing property logo on these dilemmas and picking a different plot to base it around posed more of a problem for Unscientific Method.
The problem was that the gametext using the word "Assassin" at the start. This is what we refer to as "flavor text", but it makes it hard for selecting Alternate Images, as instead of just restricting the potential storylines to "Honorable Scientist Dies", you need to narrow it further to "Honorable Scientist is killed by an assassin". Not only does this limit Creative options, but it's also a target for Rules, in their desire to clean up gametext.
Let's look at another (more extreme) example. Hologram Ruse states "Experience enemy hologram trick. You are tempted to divulge secrets. Impassable unless INTEGRITY>30 and CUNNING>30." This has two entirely superfluous sentences which add nothing to the gametext. If such a card were printed today, it would (probably) instead just say "To get past requires INTEGRITY>30 and CUNNING>30."
In the end, we left Unscientific Method out of this promo series, but Scientific Method remains! So, where should we take the alternative story from? Well, where else but the Voyager episode with the same name! If you can't recall the episode in question, in "Scientific Method", The Doctor and Seven of Nine team up to thwart the efforts of some invisible alien scientists who have been performing experiments on the crew. Will they overcome those hefty 3 SCIENCE and MEDICAL requirements?
