Preparations for Worlds!

by Paddy Tye, Worlds Organiser

1st September 2023

I took the opportunity this weekend to re-visit the venue for Worlds, so I thought I'd post an update here!

1st Rule of Acquisition Delphi Ardu IV, The Last Outpost 10,000 Tribbles - Acquire

Firstly, we have over 20 different players currently pre-registered across all 3 games, so this looks like a brilliant turnout! The main room of the venue will feature tables for 1E and 2E matches, and we will be showing episodes of Star Trek on a large screen.

Next door is the bar, selling a variety of drinks, with pints of lager or large glasses of wine available for less than £5! The bar will also host the Tribbles matches on Saturday night.

Outside, there is a temporary structure the "medieval tavern" used for weddings etc. This will be where the "featured matches" will be played, to screen out the external player noise. These matches will be streamed live on YouTube!

Also, Michael Van Breemen (The Ninja Scot) has agreed to play a 1E exhibition match against Glen "Lofty" Shipley (rameses niblick 3) which we will also aim to air live on YouTube after the 1E Day One is finished.

Also, the provisional plan for Aberdeen Anarchy on the Saturday will include a preview of new cards featured in an upcoming set....

Food

The venue is also offering freshly cooked food across all 3 days, including:

The venue are letting us be flexible on food, as I'm sure many of you will also want to venture into town at some point, but I'd encourage you all to eat and drink as much as you can at the venue itself.

On Saturday night, with Tribbles scheduled at the venue for 7pm, we thought it would be nice for many of the attendees to partake of a Fish'n'Chip supper at the venue!

I'm also going to start a thread about a group meal in town for the Thursday night before the games commence the next day.

Taxis

For easy travel from your hotels to the venue, we recommend using one of the local taxi firms below:

Prizes

This years Ferengi themed Worlds Promos have arrived safe and sound, taking their place alongside the winners glass tankards and various virtual foil promos, playmats and other Trek-based prizes!

Threads

On Friday, I'll be posting up some threads in the World Championship forum of Organized Play for you to direct any questions, and to gather opinions about meals etc.

Look forward to seeing many of you in person later this month!
