Long overdue, I'd like to let everyone know what side events we're holding during Worlds this year. Nothing should be a huge surprise (except the Protowarp options, which will be explained, but there's no prepared player deck requirements for those).

The Protowarp Draft format is something being worked on by one of our local members. Players will have the choice of several missions, behind which will be a team of personnel that can complete that mission, a ship, some verbs to help, and dilemmas. However, players will not know what affiliations will be represented except as hinted at by the affiliations that may attempt the missions. Players will draft several mission packs and be provided with a headquarters which by special rules (much like other draft formats), cards will be able to play to and work together. Players may still modify the cards drafted by leaving some out. The benefits are that drafting takes far less times and some underused themes can come to life in a limited format. We encourage feedback from those that participate.
Finally, since this year's Worlds events are being held in San Francisco, the site of the fictitious Bell Riots, we would like to pay tribute to the issues within the Sanctuary Districts, initially presented as a solution to homelessness.
Although this plotline is fictitious, homelessness is very real. As such, I am teaming up with Students and Families Experiencing Homelessness (SAFEH), part of the San Francisco Public Schools who support such families within their District.
After contacting them, two items were identified as needs. The first are some personal hygiene kits in both female and male varieties. They also requested fifty-dollar gift cards from Target. These are typical of what an organization of their nature would need and are difficult to secure with the funds they have been provided.
If you would like to give, there are several ways in which you can participate. First, if you are attending Worlds and able, you can make purchases of these items and bring them with you. In addition, there is a Target within driving distance of both the venue and the San Francisco International Airport. In addition, if time is a factor, I can also take cash donations and apply those to gift cards myself. If you are not able to attend Worlds but someone in your community is, please consider making the purchase yourself and passing it along.
If neither of those options are available to you, feel free to PM myself (@The Guardian) and ask for an address where you can send your donations. I'll be delivering everything we collect after the Labor Day weekend.
I'd also like to show how serious I am personally about raising gifts for this cause, so I'm pledging to match any donations up to $1000 total. So, feel free to make my wallet hurt for good.
I'd like to thank Ross Fertel for making this suggestion in the first place and making the contact. We thank you all for participating in the fight to end homelessness. These items will go directly to families that are in need and there are no administrative fees imposed by the agency. Worlds is always a fun time; help spread the fun around. And I hope to see you across the table in a couple of weeks.
