During Worlds this year, millions of Tribbles flowed out of the lobby of the King George Hotel into the Sanctuary District of downtown San Francisco. Lots of players scooped up lots of Tribbles, but in the end only one player did it in the right order. MVB was happy to take home the Tribbles crown (again) with his 2024 - No Way It Happens Again... Right?, an 80-card Qapla'/Go deck. He was followed closely by Justin Ford's Speed Tribbles, a more dedicated Go deck. Assimilation decks took the prize for most deck type played at Worlds. IDIC, Time Warp, Clone, and Battle decks also had a fair showing.
Tribbles Day One started with an unexpected Trouble pile and was won by Thomas V's high-scoring IDIC deck (unposted). Markus came in second with his Worlds 2024 Time Warp deck. Chris J. (Psionic Hobo) took Fourth with an Assimilation deck (also titled Worlds 2024) that he would hammer away with all weekend. I took sixth with Past Tense Part III, a Sanctuary-themed deck for achievements. And Richard brought up the rear with Clone Machine v.1.0.
The second Tribbles game of Day One was a lower scoring game and did away with the Trouble pile. It was won by Ambers massive, 130 card Dabo/Qapla' deck, Wish You Were Here - Amber Edition (played in absentia by MVB). Ken Tufts came in a close second with his familiar melody Day-o, day-ay-ay-o . . . Come, Mr. Tally Mon, tally me banana; Daylight come and me wanna go home . . . v1.1 Discard deck, going all the way back to 2014. Richard took third place with his classic Sneaky Big Pile, a 2016 Qapla' deck.
Tribbles Day Two was Trouble Pile Day, and saw the first two cigars handed out for the weekend. Ken and I both got pregnant at the first table, playing Control decks. However, I eked out the win with Tribble Giggles and a few well-timed Replicates over Kens I will Master your Troubles, for I control the Verse!, a dedicated Control deck. Chris J. and Samwise took fourth and fifth with their Assimilation hammers. Jedi successfully brought up the rear with his anti-Trouble Pile deck (unposted), constantly drawing and losing points to switch the current Trouble. It made for lots of fun chaos and giggles.
The second game of Day Two (running concurrently with the first), was won by Chris E. (VictoryisLife) playing a Clone deck without any 1,000 Tribbles (unposted)*. Markus took second with his Time Warp deck from Day One, Worlds 2024. Maggie ironically took sixth place with her sixth place Assimilation deck from Continentals IDIC Means Appreciating the Borg Too! Mk III. And Richard brought up the rear with Lightning Round, a classic Bonus deck.
Tribbles Day Three saw a deluge of games, mostly in the four pods of the first round. Justin won Pod One with Speed Tribbles, his Go deck that would take second place at the final table. Richard came in a close second with Fight Klub, a Battle deck peppered with Antidote. Trek ran away from Pod Two, nearly pregnant with an IDIC/Bonus deck he never lost faith in all weekend (unposted). This pod had the pleasure of seeing our beloved Tribbles regular Jeremy (flrazor) who swung by in the middle of the weekend to take 4th place with Assimilate This!, a dedicated Assimilation deck. Charlie and Maggie arm-wrestled hard over control of Pod Three, with Charlie's Assimilation deck (unposted) barely beating Maggie's Battle/Swarm deck (Aaaaand...Fight the Swarm!) by a mere 6,000 Tribbles. Ken had a fair showing in this pod with Organize your deck so I can Validate it and go home with big dispute having no big, an Assimilation deck that missed the final table by just 45,000 Tribbles. Finally, MVB got pregnant and took Pod Four by going out on a Qapla' that I stacked with a risky 100,000 Tribbles. I didn't quite get pregnant in this pod, but scored high enough with my Continentals Championship Poison deck Nurhachi to easily make the last round.
The final table of Tribbles (aka Day Two) was a nail-biter between MVB's 2024 - No Way It Happens Again... Right? who took rounds 1,2, and 5 (scoring almost 600,000 Tribbles), and Justin Ford's Speed Tribbles who took rounds 3 and 4 (scoring 365,000 Tribbles). They both took full advantage of the many Go's in their decks, a testament to how powerful one of the original Tribbles powers still is.The end came quickly when I fed Michael a poorly timed Clone & Reverse for the win. I felt Justin collapse next to me as Michael jumped up to dance in the end zone. I have to say to all Tribbles players out there, if someone asks you if you are going to use a power, say no. Always say no. Trek deserves honorable mention by coming in a close third with over 300,000 Bonus points. However, Charlie, Maggie, and myself couldn't get our decks to cooperate enough to compete (Assimilate, Battle, and Poison respectively).
Two more side events closed out Tribbles Day Three. Markus finally got pregnant and won the event with his trusty Time Warp deck (Worlds 2024). And Ken's Organize your deck so I can Validate it and go home with big dispute having no big won the second event, also with a million Tribbles. Ken was the most impregnated player of the weekend. Congratulations Ken! It's a Tribble! I can't wait for you to name it.
Tribbles Day Four unfortunately never gelled, and officially ended when VictoryisLife and myself returned from eating escargot outside the Santuary District (literally), and found the conference room doors sadly closed. I guess everyone was tired from the long weekend and had to get up early for flights home. Nevertheless, Tribbles were a roaring success throughout the weekend. Thank you to everyone who participated, especially to those who giggled hardest (you know who you are).

*Maggie's Clone deck saw a lot of action this weekend (see Day Two above) and can be seen here, played by Rocketgirl on Day Three.
