Alternate Universe: Twilight is tournament legal today. Let's take a deeper dive into some of the behind-the-scenes secrets of the set!
Assist Temporal Disruption – This mission is one of the two cards in the set referencing the new Xindi affiliation icon. Having such an icon make a debut on a mission is nothing new. For either game. It goes all the way back to Deep Space Nine set.
NX-01 Enterprise – When Mike Sussman wrote Twilight back in 2003, he drew inspiration from an early draft of the Battlestar Galactica miniseries. There are similarities in their plots, and this is reflected by the inclusion of 'rag-tag fugative fleet' in the lore, part of that series' opening credits.
Survivor's Settlement – This card is the first to have the Alternate Universe icon in the lower right. Prior Time Locations have all been in our timeline, or at least our potential timelines for the Museum of Kyrian Heritage. This was certainly not from our universe, though! It may seem as though the 'original' universe should not bear the icon, but we are using the 'sacred timeline', to borrow a phrase from Loki, in this game. If there are other alternate histories used for Time Locations in the future, you can expect the icon.
The Assistant Manager – As a franchise, Star Trek has had actors who are prolific in their onscreen work. Sam Anderson is no exception with a huge IMDB profile closing in on half a century! Only three are listed on his card, focusing in on those that help explain his skills, but this card could easily have just been a lore box listing his roles and even that would have barely scratched the surface.
The Destruction of Earth – Every now and then, you can have the title of a card and the image prompt for art be the exact same thing. Funnily enough, it tripled as the set symbol.
Unfamiliar Reflection – Text in the lore is from the opening credits sequence of Scott Bakula's other great series in the genre, Quantum Leap. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up and was the second time it was used on a Dilemma. Will more be transcribed? There is plenty more from that monologue to choose from …
Vorta Scenario Testing – There were a couple words that Creative went out of their way to avoid using. Hologram for one, since this was more of a virtual reality situation and wargame, since the Dominion was examining a fairly peaceful incursion.
Alternate Universe: Twilight is tournament legal today! Huge thanks to Art, Rules, Creative, Programming, Proofreading and scores of playtesters for making this set happen. Have fun!
