Dramatis Personae is Released!

by Ross Fertel, Released

6th June 2025

The latest set for First Edition, Dramatis Personae, releases today! As part of the thirtieth anniversary, this set has a personnel for each affiliation. If you have been sleuthing every corner of the internet for spoilers, there are still two cards that you have not seen until today.

Captain PikeWhen first announced as a set with a personnel for every affiliation, perhaps the one least excited about was Federation. The focus of most series, most sets have at least one if not several personnel of that affiliation, if not Starfleet. This set was no exception but gave us a surprise in Captain Pike.

Not that one you were expecting, but from the Mirror Quadrant. Never seen on screen as such (at least not as of this writing) but referred to in dialogue, Captain Pike offers a strong special skill. All of the opponent's personnel at his location are attributes minus one. That just might make it a little harder for them to solve missions let alone claw through your dilemmas. Combined with other cards such as Distracted by Thoughts of Home along with one or maybe ten tribbles, this can get potent pretty quickly.

Do not forget that he is another captain of the I.S.S. Enterprise and can get all bonuses therein. As a Captain he can use Taking Charge, laughing at your opponent as all your personnel get an attribute bonus. Being a mirror opposite of Christopher Pike, there are tricks you can use with the Transporter Mixup and the like. By virtue of being a Security personnel, you can get him out quickly. A relatively simple looking personnel on the surface, Captain Pike has many great uses.

Finally, we have a Duras who has coemption for his other versions. The second virtual version, the first was able to kill a personnel upon mission completion. This newest one is dual affiliation like his dual personnel sisters, and can avoid random selections if there are either of two specific personnel in play, one for each of his affiliations, both of whom you will want in play. The titular member of the Duras family, he can have fun as either affiliation with Illegitimate Leader of the Empire. Note that he has a restriction of not working with Honor Klingons, but you can work your way around that in your deck.

Dramatis Personae releases today and is tournament legal one week hence on Friday, June 13th, 2025. If you want to get them in action, there is a release tournament scheduled to begin Monday, June 23rd, 2025. This set would not be possible without the efforts of Rules, Creative, Art, Programming, Proofreading department along with scores of playtesters. Enjoy!
