Dramatis Personae features a card for every affiliation - including one making it's debut! Take a look at the game's first Xindi-affiliation personnel:

Xindi Archer isn't going to win any awards for being a skill tank, though he is a downloadable Anthropology personnel if you're looking to staff any Duck Blinds. His real power comes from his 2 special skills, the first of which allows Youth personnel to report directly to him. The other allows a one-time download of this card:

Maternal Instinct is the key to the Youth-forward deck enabled by Dramatis Personae. It gives all your Youth personnel a flat attributes +1 and makes all your cards compatible - facilities, ships, and personnel. In exchange, all the personnel you both own and control must have either a) Youth as a skill or b) a special skill with "Youth" or "non-Youth" in gametext. You can't use any other personnel, meaning a lot of staple personnel get left in the binders. But on the bright side, you get a chance to take a bunch of other cards out of the binder!

The attached deck is based on one of my favorite versions of this concept from playtesting. You can grab it, add your favorite dilemma combos, and have something to play ready to go. Here's a rough overview of how the deck is designed to be played:

• You'll get a free play every turn, either a personnel with New Arrivals or a cadet from Training Cruise. Combined with your card play, you'll be playing 2 personnel a turn.


• You'll have a minimum of 3 card draws each turn: your end-of-turn draw, New Arrivals, and a 3rd from Know Your Enemy. There are other draw options available as well, including Mutation and Mrs. O'Brien.


• On your first turn, play a personnel for free plus an additional personnel as your card play. Preferably at least one with a icon so you can staff your ship. If you have cadets, play them so you can start flying the U.S.S. Valiant. Then, use Defend Homeworld to download Jonathan Archer, and then download Maternal Instinct. You have Quark's Isolinear Rods in case anyone tries to Computer Crash you. (If they don't, you can grab Donik from the tent on a later turn.)


• All the ships in your deck can be fetched with Spacedoor; each one gives you a download of a personnel. Most just have a single option, usually in the tent, but a few of them give you a choice. Use them as you need them - including dialing a skill into a mission attempt.


• If you draw into Mrs. O'Brien or a Q's Tent early, she's well worth your card play. She'll give you a card draw for each affiliation Youth you play, and the deck has a lot of affiliations. You might prioritize getting her with a Q's Tent on Turn 1 over Archer in order to maximize her value.

Please tweak the deck to your liking, but there's one important note for this build: don't add any personnel. Know Your Enemy only works if you're playing Federation (done via your mission specialists) and not playing Romulan. And there are a lot of different ways you can build a Youth deck besides this one! A building using Deep Space 9 and Schoolroom is very appealing as well!

No matter how you choose to express your inner child, have fun doing so! Dramatis Personae will be releasing this Friday, and legal in all formats that allow virtual cards one week later.
