New Venue for 2013 Australian Continentals this July

by Matthyas Kiraly, Australian OP Coordinator

16th March 2013

Nothing stays the same around here for too long. Not only does change keep things fresh and exciting, but also allows us a chance to make the greatest weekend of Trek in Australia even better.

After eight years at Good Games Burwood (formerly "Sydney Games Centre"), including a stretch of seven years from 2006-2012, this year's Australian Continental Championships is moving down the road to the fantastic all-new Good Games store in Hurstville!

(click to visit the Good Games Hurstville page at goodgames.com.au)

Only 10 minutes from the Kingsford Smith Airport and right in the centre of Hurstville, this store is accessible via Sydney's fantastic public transport system (a few minutes walk from Hurstville station). The store is also very near to a large Westfield shopping complex with cinemas and no-doubt an abundance of food outlets and parking.

The store is also owned and operated by a member of the Star Trek CCG community who actively supports the game. His gracious offer to allow us the use of his store for the event I hope will go a long way to setting up a hub of Star Trek CCG at the venue. Exciting times ahead!

We have also decided to bump the event by a week later than normal, given the Regionals season stretches until the end of June this year. This means the 2013 AC will be on the first weekend of July, beginning Thursday the 4th to Sunday the 7th of July 2013.

Full details coming soon, including venue details, but consider this first notice for those needing to book flights and accommodation.

In addition to the main AC tournaments, all your favourite events will make a return, including more impromptu Tribbles and the Biermeister. We have adjusted the schedule, ditching some less popular events and adding some new never-before-seen-at-an-AC formats that nicely slot into the new four-day schedule.

Please message me if you have any questions, and feel free to discuss the topic in the Continental Championships forum.
