Online League Play Returns for a Third Year

by James Hoskin, Director of Organized Play

30th September 2013

Last year's season of the WCT Online league saw 47 different players compete for the league title over four First Edition, four Second Edition and four Tribbles tournaments across a six month period. When the dust settled, Johannes Klarhauser (Kaiser) was declared the winner and Nathan Wineinger (Naetor) was the runner-up.

Today, we are pleased to announce the online league will return for a third year. Anyone could join 2011/12 winner Thomas Kamiura (Bosskamiura) and 2012/13 winner Johannes Klarhauser (Kaiser) in the exclusive club of WCT Online League winners.

The WCT League season is split into three sections. The "First Half" comprises four tournaments, as does the "Second Half." The top eight players from each half will then qualify for the "Playoffs", to determine the winner of the WCT online league 2013/14. The complete schedule is as follows:

All constructed First Edition tournaments will use the OTF rules. The sealed First Edition tournament will use the Open rules. All Second Edition tournaments will use the Standard rules. All Tribbles tournaments will use the Standard rules. Please note the various card pools assigned to each tournament. To win this year's online league you have to be a master of sealed and constructed play, and a master of many card pools: Complete, Traditional, Virtual and Block!

These tournaments can also be found in the WCT Online league listings. The same page will also display the league standings once results are entered.

Each tournament will be run using LackeyCCG, and we require that players use Skype for voice communications. Both downloads are free:
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for First Edition.
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for Second Edition.
• Instructions and download: LackeyCCG for Tribbles.
• Download: Skype.

We recommend that players use LackeyCCG in a trial game before the first round of the tournament so they can familiarise themselves with the controls. The Chat Room is a good place to find players for test games.

Players may participate in as many or as few online league events as they wish. Registering for one tournament does not force you to play in every tournament.

Pre-registration is now open for all tournaments. Make sure you are included by pre-registering now!
