Texas Chainsaw Masters

by John Corbett, Host

27th December 2016

I'm very pleased to announce that the Texas Chainsaw Masters will be held at the Corbett Compound, in Denison TX (270 Young Rd), from November 9th thru November 12th, 2017 (Veteran's Day weekend). Denison is a lovely town (www.cityofdenison.com) next to Lake Texoma, an hour north of Dallas.

I've had this wacky idea for quite some time, but I came more resolved after the Nationals event this year in Lexington, KY. It was a great event, and Derrick Marsh did a fantastic job. However, having to pay $100 bucks in entry fees to cover the hotel conference room left a bad taste in my mouth.

So the Corbett family invites you into our spacious home for 4 days of fun gaming and activities. In the upcoming weeks, we will announce the full schedule of events. Trek, boardgames, card games, and more. Remember, this is Texas, November is when Autumn begins. The weather is perfect and we have plenty of land for outdoor activities. The aforementioned Lake Texoma has world-class fishing. Nearby Eisenhower State Park is a great place for hiking. We will have a full menu. I'm looking at real Texas longhorns right now across the street, so expect plenty of steak. We will have plenty of activities for the kids as well; video games, boardgames, etc. There are plenty of local hotels if you desire privacy and don't wish to stay in the 'barracks' or you can be creative like Ken Tufts and take the RV on a road trip.

And finally, if all that doesn't do it for you, this will be a big trek tournament run by John Corbett. And in big events, I don't do trophies, I do CASH MAD MONEY! For all three Trek main events the prizes will be $50 for 1st place and $25 for 2nd place. We will have some Door Prizes as well. Pull off 'The Triple' and you could cover a Southwest plane ticket. Doesn't get any better then that.

I'd like to thank Ken and Michael in Organized Play for giving me a chance to change the paradigm of how Trek events are hosted. I'm going to take the term 'host' quite literal. The concept is simple: just get here and everything else is provided for. Your money is no good here.
