Favor the Bold Contest #2 Results: The Undiscovered Country

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

1st August 2008

Another contest, and another great response. This time, far more of you guessed the correct answer - probably due to Brad's little clue in the designer chat. But that's okay! It's all in good fun! Here is the actual card from Favor the Bold:

A big pat on the back to our winners for this contest, Steve Upton and Derek Giromini. Each will be receiving a foil Chula: The Dice in the mail for their correct entries. (Remember, our winners are chosen at random, so everyone has a fair chance to get a prize.)

Here are some random facts about this event, and the choices we gave you for this contest:

Version #1
Each player searches his or her dilemma pile for a Consume dilemma, sets that dilemma aside, shuffles and replaces his or her dilemma pile, and places that dilemma on the top of its owner’s dilemma pile. Each opponent that cannot place a Consume dilemma like this, removes the top four cards of his or her dilemma pile from the game. Destroy this event.
This was one of the first versions of this event, designed to be a stick to encourage people to use Consume dilemmas. There were a lot of problems with it so it was scrapped.

Version #3
Plays in your core. When an opponent plays a card with V rarity, you may discard a card from hand to download a card with V rarity.
This one was created in response to a cryptic clue that Mike Girard made in the designer's chat. It was made just to throw people off track.

Version #4
Plays in your core. When you reveal a Consume dilemma from your dilemma stack, you may take two Consume dilemmas from beneath one of your opponent’s missions and return them to their owner’s dilemma pile. You may do this only once each turn.
Another older version of the event that didn't work out.

Version #5
To play this event, you must command three [TNG] personnel. Plays in your core. While a player's personnel is facing a dilemma, that personnel's owner may reveal a copy of that personnel from hand to make that personnel attributes +1 until the end of that dilemma.
A red flag, designed to make people think that it might be a TNG event since the story was from a Next Generation episode.

Thank you to everyone who entered! Don't forget to check out Favor the Bold Contest #3, and see if you can't win another Chula: The Dice foil!
