When The Continuing Committee laid out its plans for organized play in 2008, one thing we knew is that we wanted to bring back National Championships. It had been years since National events had been held in most countries, and this was a great opportunity to bring major events to areas of the world that might not otherwise get the chance.
So far, Nationals events have been run in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany and Australia, and now they will return to the US for the first time since Second Edition debuted.
The United States East National Championship will be held on Friday, November 14th and Saturday, November 15th, in Chesapeake, Virgina. Meanwhile, the United States West National Championship will be held on Saturday, November 15th and on Sunday, November 16th, in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Details on both of these events - and the side events along with them - are still being finalized, so stay tuned!
Both of these events - like all other National Events - are Level 2 events, and will reward the winner and the runner-up with a Day 1 Round 1 bye into the 2009 North American Continental Championship. In addition, there will be other exclusive prizes to be announced soon.
