One Balance Update for April 2020

by Charlie Plaine, Director of First Edition

6th April 2020

Dyson Sphere Door

It's the first Monday of the month, which is when we traditionally announce errata as well as changes to the Ban and/or Watch lists. After a lot of activity in March, today's update is rather small: a single errata. There are no changes to either the Ban List or the Watch List for April 2020. With that out of the way, let's talk about Dyson Sphere Door.

The new text of this doorway changes the scope of the download permission. Where the original text said "(ignoring cards that prevent downloading)", the errata adds the word "opponent's" to that clause. By changing this to "(ignoring opponent's cards that prevent downloading)", it should now be clear that Dyson Sphere Door no longer overrides the dilemma downloading prohibition on The Squire's Rules.

Please be aware that there is a small secondary effect of this change. You will no longer be able to ignore your own copies of Computer Crash when it is active and when using Dyson Sphere Door. According to our research, this pair of cards has only appeared in eight (8) decks, and none in the last five (5) years. We're comfortable with this small functional change, but we wanted to make it clear to all of you this is a change.

This errata is effective immediately, except for online tournaments in progress. Our next scheduled date for balance changes is Monday, May 4th, 2020.
