The Organized Play Team is Searching for Volunteers

Greeetings, 'trek fans! The Department of Organized Play currently has two openings in our ranks - one for the vacant Australian Organized Play Coordinator and one for a newly created position of Online Organized Play Coordinator. Do you think you might be interested in teaming up with Michael Van Breemen (North American OP Coordinator), Julius Melhardt (European OP Coordinator), and myself (Director of OP) to help better the tournament environment for all three games? If so, read on for details on how YOU can help us achieve our goals for 2021 and beyond!

Australian Organized Play Coordinator - Similar to the work done by Michael and Julius on their respective continents, the Australian OP Coordinator will serve as the point person for all of the various casual and high-level tournaments played in Australia. The ideal candidate will play all of the games - First Edition, Second Edition, and Tribbles - although this is not a hard requirement. More importantly, this volunteer should be active in the local community by playing and / or running tournaments on a fairly regular basis. Bonus points if the applicant has a willingness to demo the game(s) to new players, or is already doing so. As the eyes and ears of Organized Play for Australia, this individuals' primary duties will be to handle the logistics of scheduling the various Regional, National, and Continental Championships. Online Organized Play Coordinator - In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and taking the success of this year's Subspace Championship Series of online events into account, the Organized Play team has also decided to expand our ranks by hiring a dedicated volunteer specifically for the online community. As more and more players are giving online events a try, it is important that we provide these virtual tournament attendees with the resources to learn Lackey, Skype, Discord, Zoom, etc. in order to participate. Therefore, the ideal candidate will be well versed in Lackey as well as the various voice chat applications we use and be available to provide demonstrations, as needed. Bonus points if said applicant is currently active in the online community through one or all three of the games. Similar to the continental coordinators, this individual's primary duties will be to handle the logistics of scheduling both casual and high-level tournaments online. However, the Online Organized Play Coordinator will also have the unique task of distributing prizes through the mail for these events upon their conclusion. If you are interested in applying or have any questions, please send me a PM on the forums. 

As neither of these openings are Board level positions, we will not be delegating the search to an outside committee. Instead, I will be taking applications for these positions over the next few weeks and lining up informal discussions with the candidate(s) and the existing Organized Play Team as the applications come in. While we are hoping to fill these two roles quickly, we also want to ensure applicants understand the position's requirements, have the necessary qualifications, and share our vision for Organized Play going forward.
