Heroes and Demons Release

by Ross Fertel, Demonic Hero or Heroic Demon

7th May 2021

Heroes and Demons releases today. You have spent the last couple of weeks coming to the site to get the spoilers while also reaching out to Twitter and Facebook as well. There have been articles showing all the amazing ways these cards can be used to their potential and today the final sixteen are revealed at long last. Print them out and take a gander at the cover sheet.

LursaLursa has always been connected to her sister and the Cutthroat Accomplice is no exception. There is another download; though in this case, it is a Maneuver event. Not wanting to be left out of the Klingon downloading smuggling fun, Sela, Daughter of Tasha gives you a very nice selection. Unless you get extremely unlucky with draws (the Rakal Shuffle is Romulan in origin), there should be something that her ability lets you nab to further your goals of either smuggling or causing a ruckus.

The Disciplined Dissidents give us Jean Luc Picard and Worf. They tie into the theme of liking the Non-Aligned Honor personnel with Worf giving you a glimpse at your immediate future in terms of dilemma reveals maxing out at three. Time this right and you will know what your opponent can throw at you. Not to be outdone, Picard can get you an Assault event to keep your land or a ship to fly to new lands.

Geordi LaForge, Illuminated Advocate and William T Riker, Smooth Advocate both like the Briar Patch Region with one getting a straight attribute boost and the other getting a discount while boasting the Matching Commander keyword for the Enterprise-E.

Speaking of the Briar Patch, the range can be a bit of a bummer, at least initially getting in there. Flying in region is pretty normal, comparatively speaking. Either way, solving Sector 441, Analyze Radiation will result in an even better span for all the missions in that region. It will be a nice place for Sojef, Pacifistic Luddite to hang around in as he gets you another dissident or a Son'a if that is your pleasure.

Son'a BattleshipThe mainstay of the Son'a Fleet is a welcome addition to the Dominion. It requires a Son's to staff, but once up and running, it likes shooting people. It does not have to be done through battle to get the range boost. If a personnel is in your opponent's discard pile though dilemma failure or just plain milling in general, it works just as well. Though you will want to keep a close eye on affiliations that like to play in the discard pile since your gas might run out. If you need the kill, Isolydic Detonation is there for you. It has a harsh drawback, though you can scamper your way back to a headquarters mission and deal with it while your opponent suffers the ramifications you download upon them with less recourse. If there are multiple ships, it is harder to pull off, but the spoils are much better.

A pair of Ferengi add to the intrigue of a battle deck, something either new or at least reinvigorated with this set.. Berik, Now Boarding likes to win mainly to add fuel to your plan. Morta helps you win by comparing cunning instead of strength. Suddenly, winning a battle against the Klingons or Jem'hadar is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Tallus, Blustering Pursuer gives the Romulans a way to fight their way through which is useful with Ehrehin, Avenger. That ship likes to win battles if for no other reason than to put some damage out into the universe. Romulans do not really get a lot of battle action but these are welcome additions to maintain superiority.

We would be remiss if we did not thank the Rules, Creative, Proofreading, Art and Playtesting Teams for getting these cards out to you. They are legal next Friday, May 14.
