Act(or) Well Your Part

by Ross Fertel, Staff Writer

5th August 2021

In this contest, all we're asking you to do is make up your own promo set of 1E cards and 2E cards. Unlike most promo sets, we're not going to be strict about cards totaling up to a multiple of 9 (in fact, we want as many as possible), but we do need the same number of cards from both 1E and 2E. As you build your promo set, though, you may want to imagine them being sleeved in 9-card pages.

Why? Each character on a 1E page (or selection on your 1E list) must be played by the same actor as a different character in the corresponding location on the corresponding 2E page (or 2E list). In addition, you may not use the same actor twice in either promo list. In other words, the first card in both sets must be played by the same actor. The second card in both sets must be played by the same actor (but different than the first actor). And so forth. The characters do not need to appear in both editions to use them. For instance, you can pair 1E's Karden with 2E's Nog, Sharp-Eared Sentinel, even though Karden does not appear in 2E yet.

Is that all? Of course not! Both the 1E and 2E pages (or lists) must be ordered as is normal for an expansion, first by affiliation and then alphabetically (note: apostrophes come before "A" when alphabetizing). So, card 7 in a list cannot be Ferngi affiliated while card 8 is Federation affiliated. For 1E, feel free to use any background color you'd like for a multi-affiliation personnel and the corresponding cards in each set may be the same affiliation or not. Even then, you probably don't want to link Vaughn Armstrong's Danar with Maxwell Forrest, Starfleet Executive. Luckily, there are many other options.

To check your selections, you can put both lists in the appropriate deck builder to make sure they line up correctly. PM Faithful Reader with your entry no later than 5:00 P.M. EST Monday, August 16. At this point we are committing a single glorious borderless promo but might be inclined to have a bit more generosity depending on the length of the winning list. Good luck.
