March Madness 2022: 15 to Go

by Charlie Plaine, Director of First Edition

16th March 2022

Greetings fellow Trekkers! It's Week 3 of the 4th annual First Edition March Madness tournament. As it always does, participation dropped slightly week-over-week, but it's still been a great result: 85 of you voted in one bracket, and 80 in the other. I'm thrilled with that turnout, and can't wait to see what happens in the coming weeks!

Before we get to the polls for this next round of voting, here are the results of the second round of voting. I've also provided a link to a Google Sheet you can see to visualize the results, if that's helpful to you.

Results Bracket

Left Bracket
Section 31 Recruitment (1) countered T'Pring's (8) gambit to win, 50-35.
The Bridge Officer's Test (4) made all the right decisions against Miral, Mother of B'Elanna (5) in a 65-20 rout.
T'Pau (3) proved logic and the wisdom of age was up to the task against Leskit (6) in a 50-35 win.
T'Mir (2) rustled Cowboy Archer (7) right out of the tournament with a 51-34 victory.
The Voth City Ship (1) didn't see color in their 54-31 defeat of Bele (9).
In the missions/objectives battle, Recover Radioactive Material (5) held out to win over Challenge Doctrine (13), 45-40.
Orpheus Mining Facility (3) was too maneuverable for Forra Gegen (6), felling the Voth in a 53-32 victory.
The Warrior's Anthem (2) held strong and knocked Benny Russel (7) out of the game, 48-37.

Right Bracket
Transporter Duplication (1) sent Deputy Director Sloan (8) packing in a 46-34 defeat.
In a nail-biting overtime game, The Barge of the Dead (12) squeaked by Kay Eaton (13) in a 41-40 win.
The Dreamer and the Dream (3) proved race is irrelevant in their 44-36 win over Lokai (6).
Assimilate Youth (2) kept up their focus and knocked Terrasphere 8 (7) out of the tournament, 44-36.
Ancestral Arena (1) used their home-court advantage to full effect, winning over Hologram Weyoun (9), 46-34.
Holoprogram: Loyalty Test (4) was too much for Verteron Array (5) to pass, winning 50-30.
Holoprogram: Starfleet Command (3) was unified against Obvious Differences (6), winning 47-33.
Lirpa (10) had no trouble cutting Jayden (2) down to size, 48-32.

Now it's your chance to half the field again, leaving us with just eight (8) card concepts to go. Remember, you can vote however you like, and the winning card at the end of First Edition March Madness 2022 will become a new card in the future. Your votes directly affect the future! Here is the bracket for this round
