The 2009 Australian Continentals Are Coming!

by Matthyas Kiraly, Australian OP Coordinator

4th March 2009

I know there are a lot of anxious people out there waiting for any word on the 2009 Australian Continental Championships in order to book flights, make accommodation arrangements and what-not, so I am glad to announce the following preliminary details (all details except date are subject to change):

DATE
Friday the 26th to Sunday the 28th of June 2009

VENUE
 Good Games Burwood
 Level 1
 195A Burwood Rd
 Burwood NSW 2134
Phone (02) 9715-3229

FORMAT
Day 1 (Qualifier) to be held on Saturday, Day 2 (Finals Bracket) to be held on Sunday

SIDE-EVENTS
Special event on Friday night, sealed events on Saturday and Sunday afternoons

For those who want a bit of action earlier, without the uber-competitive edge, Friday night we will be holding a special format event where the aim won't necessarily be to win the event, but to get through the night with your dignity intact.   But more on this later.

We have a RAFT (figuratively speaking) of prizes this year, bigger and better than last year! The usual trophy frames for 1st through 8th, but this year there will also be a little something for those outside the eight, as a thank you for coming and being great sports. Of course, as usual,  everyone who attends will receive a good share of the prize support, no matter where they place!

Speaking of extra prizes, there will also be a special prize for everyone who attends at least one event on every day of the Australian Continentals weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). More on this later, but believe me, you won't want to miss a minute of the action.

For more information, or if you have any questions, queries or comments, please feel free to PM me! You can also discuss this event here in the Tournament Listings forum, or over at TrekAustralia's 2009 Championship Season forum.
