Announcing First Edition Tournament Kits

Announcing First Edition Tournament Kits

The Continuing Committee is pleased to announce the availability of tournament kits to support First Edition. Any registered player may purchase these tournament kits to support local organization efforts. You don't have to take any test or hold a sanctioned event first.

Now I realize that not every area has enough active First Edition players to sanction a full blown tournament. Organizers are encouraged to use the kits any way they can to spark interest in the game. Use kits to support your demos, casual play night, a local league or to try to get former players interested in the game again.

Each kit includes the highly coveted skill buttons. My local group loves the buttons and they are often the first prize to vanish off the prize table (we draft prizes for tournaments by order of finish).

The Continuing Committee has no stocks or supplies of First Edition foils. In order to support the creation of tournament kits for First Edition, two very generous donors provided a small assortment of First Edition foils and promos. Without this donation, we would not be able to offer a kit with physical First Edition cards.

As a thank you to organizers, a gift of a special Tournament Organizer only foil is provided with each kit purchase. Also, an exclusive Alternate Image (AI) foil is provided as a gift for the winner of your tournament, league or event. A gift of six AI participation virtual cards will also be sent to you to make sure that everybody has a chance to walk away with something. The participation thank you cards are not foils, but each participation card is an AI of a "staple" card that most players use frequently in many decks. The first participation card is a beautiful AI reprint of Bajoran Wormhole, a card that was highly requested to be reprinted.

These thank you gifts will rotate out every two months and be replaced by new AI cards. The current promos are as follows:
September-October 2009
Winner: Foil Slar
Organizer: Foil Mirror Bajoran Wormhole
Particpation: Bajoran Wormhole (not foil, six copies)

When you buy a kit, your donation is supporting the continued efforts of The Continuing Committee. The price of your kits pays for this website's hosting, postage (for not only your kits but also the contests), and support of the Regional, National, and World Championships. The Continuing Committee is composed entirely of volunteers. 100% of your donations go to support the costs of continuing to support the game we all love.

In the past, Continuing Committee members have often covered various costs out of their own pockets. Our goal is to make The Continuing Committee self sustaining with funds to sponsor major tournaments, contests and the Chairman's Challenges. To that end, these kits are priced to be both affordable to organizers and to raise funds to support the game.

I encourage you to make a donation and buy a kit. Then, use that kit to promote and rekindle interest in First Edition in your area. Tournament kits represent a milestone on the road towards resurrecting interest in the game that started it all 15 years ago.
