Achievements Are Here!

by Charlie Plaine, Chairman

3rd February 2011

Ever since we announced the Achievement program last year, it's been one of the most hotly discussed topics. Lots of people were excited for this program, and there have been many questions about the details and timing of the program. Well, it's 2011 now, and we're ready to go: achievements are now live!

Actually, they've been up and running since January 1st, 2011 - so many of you already have several achievements! This is a system we're really excited about, and we're just getting started. We have a lot of plans for the achievement system, and we can't wait for you guys to start using it!

But what are achievements, you might ask? Essentially, they are badges of honor - an alternative way to compete against your friends, your peers, and on the global stage. Achievements reward players for playing consistently, for experimenting and trying new things, and for entering their decks and tournament reports into our tournament system.

As of today, there are two hundred and eight (208) different achievements that one can earn. As of today, the leader of the pack is Mr. Matthew Hayes (a.k.a. karonofborg13) who has earned twenty-four (24) of the achievements. Seventeen people have cracked double digits, and almost four hundred different have earned at least one achievement.

You can earn achievements by participating in sanctioned tournaments and events for First Edition, Second Edition, and the Tribbles CCG. Achievements can be earned when you play decks based on different affiliations, or with unique, self-imposed restrictions. You can earn achievements by entering your deck lists in our Deck Builders, or by filing a tournament report after your event.

There are some things that you should know about achievements in general:

We're sorry that so many tournament wins, tournaments reports and decks from our first three years won't count towards the achievement system. Aside from the technical difficulties in doing so, we thought it was important for everyone to start on the same page. This means that everyone has a chance to race for the Outstanding Victory! (Win twenty-five tournaments). achievement, starting from the same place - January 1st.

We hope you're as excited to start earning achievements as we've been to bring them to you. The best part about this program is that it's infinitely expandable - we can add more and more achievements for you to earn as time goes on, and the sky is the limit!
