Second Edition Errata Updated

by Charlie Plaine, Acting Lead Designer

14th March 2011

On Monday, March 14th, 2011, the Second Edition Design Team issued a new Errata Document update. As always, these take effect immediately. Errata updates are scheduled to be simultaneous with CRD updates, and are usually made on the first Monday of each month; due to a procedural miscommunication, this document was delayed one week.

The Errata document is available for download via the link on the front page, or directly via http://www.trekcc.org/op/ST2EErrata.pdf. This month's errata update contains six rulings:

Enterprise (Damaged Starship) -
The word "your" has been deleted from the reporting text, allowing players to report [SF] personnel they do not command aboard this ship.

Holding Cell -
This event is now unique. This errata meant to address a destructive loop involving destruction and recursion of Holding Cell.

Legacy -
This dilemma no longer returns to its owner's dilemma pile after being face.

Par Lenor (Lascivious Emissary) -
This card now will only allow destruction of Rule events. This errata meant to address a destructive loop involving destruction and recursion of Holding Cell.

Renegade Ambush -
This card has received updated wording to clarify its function and bring it in line with other dilemmas.

Recruitment Tactics -
This card now limits targets to opponent's personnel involved in the combat, bringing it in line with existing cards.

Rulings?
Effective with this month's Second Edition CRD, the Rules Committee is no longer responsible for issuing errata to cards as part of the rules documents. Instead, authority for the issuing of errata has returned to the Second Edition Design Teams, and will be posted in a separate document.

Quoting a representative of the Rules Committee, "[The Rules Committee] will make monthly recommendations, but the Design Team may accept, modify, or ignore our recommendations. Also, the Design Team may issue its own errata without consulting us if the Lead Designer wishes. ...these changes give Design (and Organized Play if Design wishes to consult them) the tools they need to achieve their goals without interfering with the Rules Committee's core mission."

The Second Edition Design Team is scheduled to release an update to the Errata Document on the first Monday of each month. These errata are effective immediately.
